All about equipment and iron!

power rack sway

My basement setup has a half-rack. The concrete was too new to drill into when I got it, so I braced it with 2x6s. Front-to-back it's solid and not tipping over. Side-to-side it sways every time I (un)rack weights. Would bolting it to the floor stop the lateral movement, or is sway normal?

smartwatch for Polar H10

Dear all, I've recently start to use a Polar H10 heart rate monitor. As you may know is not so easy to use it for running paired with a phone. Could you please recommend a (smart)watch, preferably without HRM and GPS, to be used with the H10? It would be nice if the watch could play music. ...

Mobile equipment

Hey guys, I’ve always lurked here for tips and info but never had an actual question before so joined the community for that reason. I’m not necessarily into “bodybuilding” as a sport but I am heavily into overall fitness as it’s a requirement for my lifestyle. I apologize in advance for the long...

Valor BD-41 Power Cage w/attachment Review

I will do a review for the Valor BD-41. http://www.amazon.com/Valor-Fitness-BD-41-Heavy-Power/dp/B010FUFFWC I bought this cage because it fit nicely into my budget, can hold 1000lbs, and is light commercial grade. I was going to go with the BD-31 I believe but for a slight $35 up charge...

Using Jefit and Apple Watch - how does it compare to Gymaholic?

I like Jefit, but I hate the apple watch app - mainly having to spend a few minutes to get them both to load up and sync. Anyone use gymaholic? Worth the cost and much better apple watch app? What are the limitations to gymaholic? Thanks for anyone who has tried both, particularly recently.

Question Do I need a 2'20m bar?

I want to set up a gym at home, with a power rack and Olympic material. Is the 2'20m bar necessary or is 1'80m sufficient? I do strength exercises, mainly. So far I have not needed the 2'20.

Body-Solid GDCC200 & GDCC210

Setting up my GDCC200 and was wondering if the left and right weight stacks/uprights are supposed to be slightly angled inward towards each other, rather then 90 degrees straight up. Seems like there would be less friction if it was straight. Would really appreciate it if someone with either...

Dumbell plates 28mm vs 30mm

I was assuming that dumbells all come in the same size (ignoring Olympic) but looking online I've seen plates speficied as 25mm and 28mm but my handles are specified as 30mm! When I try to find 30mm plates they are stupid prices. Are they all describing the same thing, or do I really have to...

Rogue Monster Lat Pulldown purchase

So I received a rogue Monster lat pull down and thought I'd share some thoughts as I couldn't find a lot of information when I was mulling this purchase for the past two years. I've been buying Rogue for years and I am generally a fan. 1. It was expensive, just a little less than $3500. 2....

Vintage Iron Thread

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. I wasn't part of that discussion, but I see that no one has created the thread, and I have a couple of plates that I could use some help identifying, so I figured...

Mounting pull up bar without door trim

We recently moved to a new house and my first choice of doorway for hanging my pull up bar (the plain telescoping kind; can be tension mounted or hung with brackets) is a trimless doorway. I've hung the brackets - in drywall - using three drywall anchors + screws each and mounted the bar, and it...
