Tips for Getting Hired as a Newly Certified Personal Trainer at a Gym?

I recently achieved one of my dreams of becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE, though I’m hitting a new reality that it’s not so easy to get hired as a newly certified trainer at any of my local commercial gyms. I’ve emailed, called, walked-into, and applied to at least 15 gyms and...

Reapplying for a PT job I 'quit'

Over a year ago I got offered a job here in the UK for a big corporate chain gym with 20 gyms in the area, I accepted and signed the contract but was shortly after offered the chance to work across the globe doing fitness for a year and jumped at the chance. Sent an apology to the manager and went...

Question Thinking about HIRING a Personal Trainer; what should I look for, and expect?

So, today has been kind of a whirlwind for me. I've been in a funk for -- well, MOST of my life, but particularly the past couple months. So I've spent the day just trying to, you know, get help. Both in finding a psychiatrist for dealing with my personal stuff, but also trying to figure if I might...

Non-Binary/Gender Non-conforming clients

Hi all, I'm partway into studying for my ACE Certification and since I'm planning on selling myself as a very pro-LGBT/artist trainer, I'm wondering if there's any good resources for using the various assessments that are scaled by gender on non-binary/gnc/trans clients? Thanks

Ideas for gym floor lead generation

Hey guys! I have been a PT for awhile now (i'm 31yo, can't figure out how to change my age) and the gyms I have worked at all gave out regular consults and that was an easy way to keep business going. The gym I currently work at gives consults to you for the first three months but then leaves you...

Why are my abs building as a straight line of muscle?

I have solid abs but It seems like each row of abs are building as a straight line. Almost like it is one muscle spanning a straight line across my abs. Im sure doing more Russian twist may help but wondering if there is a reason for this or anyone particular workouts that could help.

NASM CPT 4th Ed vs 6th Ed material

I took the NASM CPT exam back in 2012 and passed easily. Book and material were 4th edition and now they are on the 6th edition. Over that time I had a job in the field and let my CPT cert lapse while I had a couple other certs that were a bit more effective for me, and now I am moving and...

Trainers, how do you feel about this PT package?

This isn't from me but from a local gym I was planning to apply. But after seeing this, my gut is already telling me they're selling customers such unrealistic promises and results I feel as a trainer this would be a let down for the client. And as a trainer I will get blamed for not delivering...
