Eat your vegies

Too many trainers focus on macronutrient ratios and timing and blah blah, when some more very basic things are missed - are they eating any fruit and vegies? If you get a 40yo accountant or 35yo soccer mum, both of whom are overweight with back pain, is their issue really that they're having 110g...

Want to become personal trainer but I can't get my foot in the door.

I completed my ISSA certification. I am an avid kickboxer. Really into yoga and Pilates. I know my specialization. I live and breathe fitness, always learning new things about muscle mechanics. I've interviewed at countless gyms, chased after so many opportunities but I can't land a single gig...

Getting demotivated clients through a workout

Hello fellow trainers, I wanted to ask what strategies and tactics have you all found for getting through a not so good workout with a client. By this, I mean those days when the client is obviously stressed or tired and they have a more difficult time getting through a workout than they thought...

Lightbulb Personal Trainer - Gym Space

Hi there! New to BodyBuilding, frankly, to ask this question. I just didn't know where to turn to to get some help/feedback... I recently underwent a pretty radical wellness change over the past year that has sparked a passion for building solutions for wellness pro's. I had an idea recently...

Becoming a personal trainer

Couple questions: I'm in Canada, what certification should I get to be able to work in a gym? My mother is a trainer and she is suggesting Canfit or YMCA, but I've read that it is better to get legit certifications. Tips to find work at a gym. What do they look for? I see a lot of turn over...

How hard will it be to make commission from this PT job?

For a friend, I can't really comment as I don't have much experience in the sales field of PT. He's been offered a 'Personal Training' role in Abu Dhabi. Home of the richest parts of the world where people go for money but he's been offered a flat salary of 3000AED (£700 GBP, or around $850) not...

quality vs quantity

Everyone wants to grow their business. This means diversifying what you offer. You'll never get 500 people in one place all squatting, pressing and deadlifting. Or just doing kettlebells, or whatever particular tool or method you think is most useful. But there's a limit to how far you should...

2 Questions from a futurebe

Yes, I tend to make up my own words sometimes. Anyway I am in the process of studying for my ISSA PT, just finished chapter 18 so I still have a ways to go. My first question after a brief description of my current area. I live in a small town in South-Central Illinois with a population...

What is a good meal plan for trying to build muscle?

For most people, the intersection of ease, price, and taste makes brown rice, sweet potatoes, and oatmeal the go-to muscle-building core foods. Every day for as long as you want to build or maintain muscle, you must eat enough to reach your calorie target.

1 on 1 Personal Training sessions vs Small Group classes

I have a friend with a Starting Strength gym located in a strip mall in a fairly dense suburb of a major city (Dallas, TX) and his set up is 100% small group classes. His turnover rate is fairly brisk, but he caters to a market of mostly older white males, so it works for him in the location that...

Stretching trainer?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, I am not a PT, but have a question for all the PTs. I am approaching 40 and have been fairly inactive for a while. I was always active up through my 20s and have played organized sports my whole life, but my 30s hit along with a desk job and kids and I got...

1st Day as a PT, thinking about quitting.

I want to know how normal it is to have all your hard work and hours of knowledge just vanish? I became a PT 2 years ago but wasn't confident enough to get work, so instead I filled everyday reading countless books from Mel Siff to Mike Boyle, to getting my NASM CES/WLS, S&C level 1. I knew...

In Need of Personal Trainer

Hey! I am not sure if this is the right place to do it, but I was wondering where I could go to find a good personal trainer? They don't need to be nearby, but if someone like could give me advice as to what work outs to do, and follow my progress that would be awesome.

Just passed the 2015 ACSM CPT exam. Here's some tips. (long and lots of tips)

Let me preface this by disclosing that I'm a non-traditional engineering student (I'm 32 and didn't start college until late in my 20's,) so my study habits/skills are possibly a bit different than most going into this exam. I studied for 3 days and passed. About 6 hours on the first day, and 3-4...

Can a offline PT help me more/better than help online from a PT and non PTs?

My main problem is that I progress approximately 10 times slower than others. One person said I should get a PT because he can't help me, because I say:"This is max I am giving regardining strength, I cannot be stronger." He means a offline PT sees you the whole session and knows what is going...
