I've been Cleared to Run and Jump

After breaking my leg I've been cleared to start running and jumping and the doctor said I will probably be able to play football. She also said that some people don't fully recover from a broken tib/fib, and they lose a tiny bit of speed. I'm turning 15 in a week and I'm supposed to grow...

Two questions... one regarding appointment frequency and the other a general question

So the first question: Say you have a client that's no stranger to the gym and is solid in terms of form, etc. You put them on a program that starts out with a total body circuit, done twice per week. After the first couple of weeks, how do you justify the appointments, rather than just simply...

What fitness tests do you like to do?

For instance, I've noticed that a lot of trainer materials choose the partial-curl up test over the sit-up test. And many use the leg press as the standard test for leg strength instead of the squat. Also, the NSCA book at least says nothing of the push up test. So what's everyone's thoughts on...

Doesn't the Karvonen Formula SEEM counter-intuitive?

Let's say we have two clients. One with a resting HR of 60, and the other 95. The first client, with a resting HR of 60 would be in considerably better shape. If we apply the Karvonen to both and take for example training zone 2: Zone 2: 76-85% Client 1 Age – 18 Resting heart rate – 60 220...

Independant trainers looking for local studios!

It seems that I am constantly reading posts from personal trainers complaining about making crappy wages working for corporate gyms or complaining about lack of resources to train independently. Or I see arguments about whether is right or wrong to train clients "under the radar" at corporate gyms....

I have seen and heard both sides to this argument. I know most professionals will definitely charge for a consultation that A. takes over an hour...
