The moderators here have a policy that we do not advise anyone under the age of 18 to restrict their calorie intake. So please do not ask for such advice here. This is because there is the possibility that you could stunt your growth or develop an unhealthy relationship with food. If you have...

Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Cutting and muscle memory?

Hi, I started back at the gym four weeks ago after the third UK lockdown and had really done no strength work since early January. I decided to combine this with a real effort to cut, so used a similar eating plan to previous cuts; I have learned a lot from here in the past about working out...

Exclamation Is this a good idea to start with?

My plan was to lose weight at the start of the year but I have been all over the place with my diet since January. For the last 5 months I have been either overeating or under eating (in hopes of sustaining the undereating phase and losing weight). I go on 800 calories diets for days to a week but...

Stuck again @ 286

Started OCT 15, at 316, down to 286-284 Been stuck here for awhile. Was losing at 1700-1800 calories, now I can't lose anything anymore. It's been 4-6 weeks with no scale movement. Workouts have improved in speed/smaller rest, strength is the same or better. (I run more of a bodyweight...

consistent progress at 170 with a belly

I'm 5'11 170 lbs 20 yrs. New to bodybuilding, not new to working out. I've dieted before, did high school sports, and weightlifting. I'm lifting on a 5 day split for a little over a month now. I've got a belly but not sure how to get rid of it without killing my gains and losing weight.

Want to lose weight, get a little more fitter, and healthier!

Hello all! So I recently took more time looking at the mirror, and realized how unhealthy I look already. Before the pandemic happened, I was a little overweight, but never did my tummy create an uncomfortable fold between my chest and, well, tummy. So I decided to try and lose weight. The...

Any math wizards in here?

Is there any way I can take my current calorie intake and median weight loss to calculate my maintenance calories? So say that I lose 120 grams per day eating 2500 calories. Can I use those numbers to calculate my maintenance?

How much bf% can be safely lost per month?

Currently at ~15%, like the idea of cutting to 12% and maintaining there forever. Assuming a steep, but safe cut (e.g., 1-1.5lbs lost per week, lots of protein, keep lifting to maintain muscle), how quickly could this be done?

Cut or Bulk

I haven’t been able to decide whether i should be cutting or bulking. I am 6’3 186 and about 16% body fat. I’m not sure that i’m big enough to have good results from a cut. Pictures of my current physique are in my gallery.

HMB as substitute for extra protein?

There is data showing that HMB is good for cutting, mostly in beginners. 3 grams is optimal for someone who is 200 pounds. Studies without HMB say that to lose 1% of your body weight as fat each week, you need at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, or something high like that....

How to lose fat fastest without losing muscle:

I have to paste this a line at a time to avoid access denied: I've been reading several large study results. I did not write down the links, but there are also articles on here that site the same studies. Researchers had ~100 per study test the following: 1. If your body fat is above...

Cut or Bulk

I started back in November at 191 lbs. and now weigh 161 (approx. 17% body fat). I have been doing a 3-day split and a 20 min HIIT on off days. My diet is around 2000 (40-40-20) calories a day (averaging around 1.4 lbs week weight loss). Wondering if I should cut down to 12-15% body fat and then...

running during 5-6 hours in day after binge?

I'm thinking of running 5 to 6 hours to burn the 3600 calories from yesterday's binge. Do you think I will lose lean mass if I ever do so much cardio?
