Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Eating below TDEE but not losing weight

Hey everyone, I'm 24 y/o, 6'0, and weigh 180 lbs. I go to the gym 5 days/week and follow a workout plan. I typically do cardio for 15 mins each day. Besides the 90 mins I spend at the gym, the rest of the day is pretty sedentary. I recently had my body fat measured and it was found to be 24%...

Finding the Right Program

Good afternoon everyone, I'm a 40 year old male, five foot five, 153.6 lbs, approx 18% bodyfat, with a pre-existing condition that makes it difficult to take stimulants of any kind- I pretty much can only do aminos, a daily multivitamin, a probiotic and protein shakes as my supplements. I...

Exclamation Keep failing diet, too hungry?

What are ways to make you feel less hungrly? Is it possible to go on a calorie deficit diet (500c deficit) and feel full everyday. Maybe I'm just weak minded. Current weight: 145kg, 5'10

Cool Why does fried egg calories = 90?

So a raw egg from a 700g carton has 74 calories, 80 something when boiled but remains same when poached. Why all these different numbers? Also fried egg is said to be 90 calories. Specific question is why is it 90 calories, does that include oil, what about frying eggs with no oil?

An alternative to low carb

I know weightloss is calories in vs calories out, I have had success losing weight but I tend to regain cos of the medication I’m on which causes metabolic syndrome and increased appetite. It makes sticking to a deficit harder, like you might be successful for a day or 2 or even a week but don’t...

Decrease in muscle size - real muscle or just water/glycogen

Hi, I lost a few pounds recently, and while I know a good chunk of it should have been fat (my waist did decrease), my muscle measurements also went down. The thing is, my strength isn't much lower than it was before I lost weight, as I did still keep up some training. My body fat is close to...

Newbie despair

Hi all, I've been training for 3 months now - consistently without fail 4 days a week (one body part each day) plus 3 HIIT sessions. My weight has stayed stubbornly at 74 kg (+/- 0.5 kg). I've gained in strength but haven't seen much appreciable change in my body appearance. Maybe larger biceps...

I've hit a plateau and don't know what to do..

A year ago I weighed 150lbs at 5'3". I restricted my calories to 1200 per day and within 5 months I lost 30lbs. I currently am trying to lose 10-15 more and it seems impossible. Going lower than 1200 is extremely hard. I also work a sedentary job and dont go to the gym but i walk about 6000 steps...

What is the best pathway to my goal?

I'm currently 175 pounds, 6'0, 19 years old. I estimate/weigh my bodyfat % around 20-22%. I workout 5 times a week, PPL split with heavy compound lifts. As well, I do 3/30 minute HIIT sessions on the treadmill per week. Nutrition-wise, I eat 1500-1600 calories a day (~200 deficit), and try to...
