Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Attention: Under 18s

The moderators here have a policy that we do not advise anyone under the age of 18 to restrict their calorie intake. So please do not ask for such advice here. This is because there is the possibility that you could stunt your growth or develop an unhealthy relationship with food. If you have...

Angry Question about losing fat but not dropping much in weight?

Here's my story. So one day when I was playing League of legends I thought to myself... "hmm I want to get ripped". I started 10/17/2019 going back to the gym doing a PPL routine 6 days a week, and play softball/baseball on some of those days. I have done this routine before while taking creatine...

I am new to dieting. (

Age 28 male 5'11" BMI: 25% I have never worked out or dieted ever in my life. I've got my workout plan but the dieting is confusing. My TDEE is about 2400 calories so I am going to increase to 2700 calories. How much carbohydrates/protein/fat do I need?

(Newbie Gains) Will I lose fat on a caloric surplus?

I’m a 6’3 tall skinny fat dude who has never lifted before (I’m 24yrs old). I decided to do a body recomp but i’ve been told that as a newbie I don’t need to focus on cutting because I’d lose fat anyways. So if i’m in a caloric surplus, let’s say 200 calories more, will I still lose fat?

Unhappy Is it normal for me to feel fatigued while lifting weight on a cut?

I'm 16 years old and have been bulking up muscle for a year now. I decided to go on a cut and a diet of having 500g of chicken breast per day (for protein) and the rest healthy carbs like salads etc. and healthy fat sources like milk and cheese. I eat about 1500 - 1800 calories give or take...

Cutting on .5g/lb protein?

Mentally I do best when my cutting diet is near 100% vegetables. I'm 11 days into the current cut, eating vegetable soups and pumpkin based meals and doing fine so far. That said, I'm only getting 85g protein per day. At a weight of 175 lbs that means a little less than .5g/lb. Studies show that...

Does replenishing glyocen slow down fat loss?

When I take a week or even a day to eat at maintenance I feel more energized the days after. This is also true at the beginning of a cut. I understand this is because the body isn't glycogen depleted. I have some disclarity here. If I'm eating at true maintenance I'm not gaining weight. But if...

How do you guys deal with caffeine tolerance?

Seems I need 2 days off it for every one I use it to suppress hunger and raise energy. Otherwise withdrawal headaches and tolerance will set in. Curious how you guys manage this to keep reaping the benefits of caffeine without lowering your effectively on off days

Fat Loss

hey guys i lost about 10 lbs and noticed by belly fat became "soft". when i sit down and stand up the fat around my hips are pushed up by my pants. The pants sort of "molded" my fat. It hard to explain but i have never noticed it before and my belly also don't look much smaller during the cutting.

Is cutting 18kg (40lbs) too much?

Hey. so my bulking and cutting so far has been 69kg > 80kg, 80kg > 72kg, 72kg > 85kg (current). I plan on bulking for another 14 weeks, putting me at what should be 92kg, I then want to cut to 74kg as that's the weight class I want to compete in powerlifting in the future. I'm just wondering if...

Losing fat after 40

I had to get rid over 100 lbs of my ass, and I realized that it is much harder to do it now when I'm 41 then when I used to do it a decade ago - totally different body. Is it harder for you, brothers by age and fat percent? I can't put pics here because of the low post number, so you can see it in...

Can “muscle memory” enable you to gain muscle while losing fat?

Suppose you were once lean and fairly muscular a few years back, but haven’t lifted seriously in two years, and you’ve gained 15lbs of fat while losing muscle mass due to not lifting. If you start lifting again while in a calorie deficit, could you potentially lose fat and gain muscle due to the...

I'm a 4'9 woman, my highest weight used to be 122 pounds and I've lost this weight over a span of some months. But my belly fat is still there and just refuses to budge. Where should I go from here?

I'm 6'5" ~200 lbs and 29 years old. I believe my body fat is between 16 and 18%. I've been working out and eating super healthy for over 7 months, cutting for 6 months and bulking for about a month. Not sure if I should really be cutting still though. I thought I could use more muscle mass but I...
