Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

When on a cut, how do you deal with eating at other people's?

Obviously highly relevant over the holidays :) What is your strategy for eating at other people's houses while on a cut? I am thinking about how I can reduce my calories, and that seems to be a big source. I have much more control over what I buy and have at home.

What do you think of study that shows fat burning is better in fasted state?

I'm not a doctor and have a bit of trouble understanding it, but I found this study, which I read this summary of: >"Plus, a recent study published in The American Journal of Physiology found that men who exercised without eating beforehand burned more fat." The study is here:...

Unhappy Loose Skin/Fat?

Hey! I've been on a weight/body image struggle for as long as I can remember, and as a 35yr old that's probably 20yrs. TLDR: is this loose skin or body fat, or both? I'm currently 6'2/85kgs. In recent years I've been as low as 77kgs and the skin remained and at that point did a solid...

Still struggling after 1 year

For a solid 1yr 1month, I've been working out 6/7 days a week. 5 days are always 30m bodyweight or weights/ 15m hiit&weights, and 15 minutes strength yoga. Some 6th days are the same, some are just cardio only. Every day I run 1 mile and finish by incline walk for 15-30 more minutes(depending on...

Calorie Demand Estimation from Anaerobic Workouts

At the end of a long, loosely guided bulk, I am in a relatively good place and am generally pleased with the progress I've made in both strength and added mass, but it's high time to shed off plenty of fat. I'm 6'2" and now weigh in at 250. I started 2019 at about 220 and actually had a slightly...

How long does a successful recomp take for an untrained athlete? Is my plan viable?

So for various reasons I essentially haven’t worked out for for the past 18 months. I’ve lost about 20-25 pounds of muscle and gone up to around 17-20 percent body fat. I’m giving myself 23 weeks to put 15 pounds of muscle back on and get down to 10% bf; is this possible ,assuming I have ideal...
