Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Question What is enough protein while cutting?

Im 198 pounds and are cutting with 195g protein, is this enough? everyone has so many opinions on this, Eric Helms recommend 1,1 to 1,3 gram protein per pound of bodyweight, And some recommend like 0.8 per bodyweight, what is really enough? Also how much does protein source matter?

Question Why people still eat clean on IIFYM

Hi I know that IIFYM doesn't mean eating only junk food and fiber rich food like oats or vegetables work better for less cravings hence people still eat clean on IIFYM with only few treats. But for example I can have 2 big meals like carbonara( pasta, eggs, bacon and cheese) and steak with...

Long haul advise

So I turned 30 last December and I was in the absolute worst shape of my life. I decided that I didn’t really like getting winded walking up my own stairs and decided I needed to put myself on a diet so I didn’t end up having a heart attack in the next decade. I have always been big in high...

Bulking and cutting questions

Ok - so I have heard that you cannot build muscle and lose fat at the same time (I'm paraphrasing) unless you are newly weight lifting. So people choose to bulk OR cut depending on whether they want to build muscle or cut fat. My question that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere is, how...

Without Knowing, How Do I Know?

Assuming I’m eating well and exercising correctly, how many pounds can a person expect to gain in three months? I named this thread “Without Knowing...” because I don’t have any way at home to measure body fat. (My scale can but it doesn’t seem to be accurate).

Don't let the fat acceptance movement tarnish your goals

The fat acceptance movement has gotten a lot of attention recently. These people push the idea that you can be healthy at every size and that it is wrong to criticize people for being overweight. Certain “medical professionals” and social media personalities are the ones responsible for backing...

This Post Could Set You On Fire

I originally created this post for my LinkedIn... The Cycle: 1. Take massive action. 2. Get criticized by everyone watching you make moves. 3. Those actions turn in to noticeable results. 4. The people that were criticizing you are now the one’s privately asking you how you did it.

Question Will you look better in normal light with lower bodyfat?

So I guess everyone just looks better under anabolic lighting at the gym, but under normal light the shadows to the muscle are less/missing. Will a lower bodyfat increase those shadows under normal light so you look almost always good as ****? Or do you just need more size?
