Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum recently, most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some online 'trainer' who's only trying to scam their $$$. ...

How much should I keep trying to loae

Hi, try to keep this short as I can. Basically been on a bit of a weight loss journey, just over a year ago I managed to get down to 70kg (I’m 174cm tall) using just hiit at home and a low carb diet. But I still had a really pronounced lower stomach. So I taught myself about macros and lifting...

From 12% to 10% -- What is a reasonable weekly BF% loss?

.8%? .6%? Current situation: I'm at around 13% to 14%, abs softly visible. I want to try getting down to 10% now and would like to mentally ready myself (I do a lot better when the target isn't fuzzy). I'm used to losing 1% a week, but that's because I usually touch 12% and bulk again. ...

Calculate my BMR please... I'm about to GIVE UP..............

Hi all, So yeah - about 4 weeks back I made a post regarding my very rocky weightloss journey. Ate at 2200 cals, went from 93 to 90KG. Sat there for about 3-4 months... Nothing changed. Bit more muscle overall - visually, for sure.. But overall, nothing else. Dropped it to 1800 cals, as...

Question Can't stop sweating hours after workout

Hey, I been cutting a lot of weight. Been lifting, doing cardio, cutting calories, and supplementing. Got a bit of a problem today. Lifted for about 2 hours, went well, strength going up. Did 30 mins of pretty intense cardio. During the entire workout I was sweating a little more than usual...

stomach getting bigger not muscles

Hi everyone I’m 18 years old and have been lifting for 5 months. 128 lbs 5’9 eating 2500 cal a day. However, my muscle gains are so tiny, my arms still skinny and my chest still flat etc. The only thing that grew is my stomach (check out my activity, the pic is there) I doubt that it’s all...

Cutting and maintaining muscle mass

I’m currently on a program that calls for resets—a 10% reduction in intensity after failing a lift two weeks in a row. Right now I’m working my way back up from resets on all four big lifts. I want to start a cut, but I’m worried that until I get back up to the original intensities at which I...

Advice? Stagnant weight loss.

Hello all, For a little background, I work out 5-6 days a week, about 90 mins per session, 20 minutes of that containing some LIIS cardio (approx 400 cals burned). Besides that exercise, my activity levels are of those at a desk job. I'm 6'0, 216 pounds and from what my local nutrition stores...

Steak and eggs diet for cutting?

Stumbled upon the steak and eggs diet from the 50's, obviously we know alot more about nutrition now, but does this still have some merit? It says to do it for 2-3 months. So I'm assuming that's a cut. From the article: A typical steak and eggs meal consists of 12-20 oz of steak and 4-6...

Is the calories burned through exercise at MyFitnessPal accurate?

I weigh around 261, I'm 5'-11.5" and I was on a stationary cycle for 20 minutes and MyFitnessPal said I burned 280 calories. I have my current weight stored at the site, but I'm wondering if the estimate of calories burned through exercise is accurate, 280 for 20 minutes seems like a high estimate.

Scale BF% as a relative tool

I am curious if it is fair to use the report outs (fat, muscle mass, etc) on my new weight gurus scale as a relative tool to indicate if I am moving in the right direction or not? Not asking if they are 100% accurate, but rather if for example scale reported BF% is trending down is that a good...

I’m a very active teen and workout just about everyday of the week. I have wrestling practice for 2 hours and basketball for 1-2 hours during weekdays with games and meets on the weekend. I weigh 160 pounds and recently cut to 148 but I realized a large loss of strength. (I gained all the weight...
