Sticky Thread Sticky: Attention: Under 18s

The moderators here have a policy that we do not advise anyone under the age of 18 to restrict their calorie intake. So please do not ask for such advice here. This is because there is the possibility that you could stunt your growth or develop an unhealthy relationship with food. If you have...

Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

I myself have had a lot of problems with accountability. I am making this thread with the hopes that more people that want to lose weight but have issues with being negative and giving up and not sticking with it, can talk and find support. I could use some help and wouldn't mind forming a...

Slow bulk or cut?

Hi I am looking for some advice on whether to slow bulk or cut? I have added un-flexed photos of my front, side and back in my gallery. Currently I got back to the gym a few weeks ago after nearly 5 months of closure due to lockdown. In that time I was restricted to a gym bench, some dumbbells...

Question Eat balanced meals and still lose fat?

Can i eat all my meals with protein carbs and fats or do I need carb free meals to allow for bodyfat to be used? From what I have read and seen fitness gurus recommend, many of them seem to have atleast some carb free meals for steady insulin and allow for bodyfat to be used. Im under the...

Bulk or cut?

Hi there. I think I have body dysmorphia (don't we all!) and want some honest, third-party opinions. Attached are pictures of my physique. I used to be quite fat (~170 lbs at 5'4"), cut and was very skinny (~125 lbs), and have been training for the past few years. My current weight is ~140-145...

Losing fat while at caloric deficit and lifting

I've worked out in the past but stopped going 2 years ago until recently. About two months ago I started lifting again because I noticed I had accumulated a lot of fat over the years. I started with a decent upper/lower split workout plan going 4-5 days a week. I do light amounts of cardio 2-3 days...

Anyone have experience with a mini-cut?

I recently (end of April) finished cutting from 186 to a low of 166, average 168, realistically ~170-172 after refeeding. Then I visited family for a week and partied memorial day and I'm hovering around 175-176. I think I just let off too suddenly. I'm thinking of just spending ~3 weeks or so...

Is it possible my TDEE is this low?

Right now I'm 5'10 157lbs. I'm almost done with my cut, I'm about 17% bodyfat. I have a decent amount of muscle but my bones are pretty thin (tiny wrists) so that's probably why my weight is so low. I've been eating 1500 cal a day and doing 400 cal of cardio. I don't feel hungry really, I think...

Happy with my current build. Now can i slow cut at -200 cal/day?

I'm where i want to be in terms of muscle, but want to cut about 4-5% bodyfat (18% to 13-14%). As I don't plan to seriously bulk anymore, I think I have the luxury of a slow cut. Is a -200 cal/day deficit enough to slowly lose about 1.5 lbs/month or are deficits that small easy for the body to...

Calculating BMR for calorie deficit

When calculating BMR, do you factor in resistance training? I’m trying to decide how many calories I should aim for. I’m 5’11 174 lbs and 11.5% bf 42 yrs old. I’ve hit a plateau of burning fat and I want to make sure I’m not overdoing calories. Most calculators say for moderately active person ...

Recovered from an Eating Disorder... now i’m obese

I just made an account on here for bear with me. As the title says, I fully recovered from anorexia 4 years ago when I was 15 years old. I am a transman, and after starting a social and hormonal transition I wanted to slim down to feel more masculine. What I considered to be a “diet” was...

Hi all I'm 28, 171cm tall, male and weigh 115KG (almost a week in and I'm now 111KG). Covid has absolutely rekt me as I've become lazy and have really piled on the weight this year. I've always been heavy, but thankfully as a youngster I played lots of sports, it was mainly post university at...
