Apples a good or bad snack?

I always assumed that apples were a healthy snack. A lot better than a bag of potato chips or a candy bar but reading other peoples meal logs, I don't see apples being mentioned very often. Granted, they're sure better than chips or candy. Is this because of apples aren't a very good snack?
