Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Just a personal opinion for people losing fat or have body dismorphic disorder.

I keep seeing posts about cutting or bulking, posts about what body weight to aim for, people running forever on treadmills eating like a rabbit trying to burn all of this weight. But one answer I never really see is how more lean muscle equals a higher metabolic rate. So for all of you trying to...

I’m currently 21 and extremely obese and I want to make a serious change to better my life. I’ve done research on the keto diet and there is a lot of mixed reviews. I was wondering what thoughts you have. I also looked into fasting because of my size but, I’ve seen more negative than positive. ...

Should I stop eating at a calorie deficit until I can lift weights again?

I pulled a muscle in my chest which aches when I bend my upper chest and the doctor told me to not lift weights for at least a couple of weeks till it heals. So I don't lose more muscle than I can afford from not lifting weights while cutting should I just eat at maintenance for a few weeks till...

Question Peanut butter makes me gain weight

I'm 5'10 155 pounds, whenever I eat peanutbutter I feel kinda sloppy and my weight goes from 155 to 160 in a week eating it. When I stop eating it I drop back down to 155. Should I stop eating peanut butter? I'm pretty lean but to me I don't look as good if I eat peanut butter.

Is this why high protein foods are really good for you when it comes to weight loss?

"Protein takes the most energy to digest (20-30% of total calories in protein eaten go to digesting it). Next is carbohydrates (5-10%) and then fats (0-3%). Thus, if you eat 100 calories from protein, your body uses 20-30 of those calories to digest and absorb the protein. You'd be left with a net...

HIIT question

If I do HIIT 3x a week after my full body routine will it aid in fat loss or just make me lose the muscle I am trying to retain while losing weight? I walk 1 min and then run 1 min on the treadmill at an incline I do this for 15 minutes with 2 min warmup walk and 2 min cool down after.

I've been hearing it for a while now, that everyone has abs under the fat. I highly doubt I have them under my fat, just bones.

Did you keep weight off after fasting/OMAD??

I have about 5 lbs I'd like to lose, and I really like fasting just because of the convenience and simplicity of it. However, I've only reached up to a 24 hour fast because usually I like to include one meal a day. Has anyone ever done this? What were your results, and did you keep the weight off?
