Sugar intake?

How much does sugar intake matter? Im at about 50-60 G of Sugar per day, most coming from fruit, but I do eat a couple oreos or small stuff with sugar, they fit into my macros. Im just curious as if eating extra sugar, even if it fits into your macros will have a negative affect on your progress.
