Red face Fruit vs Starch for glycogen

I have a genetic condition where I'm highly sensitive to retaining water and have to be careful of my salt/water/carb intake. Would fruits therefore be a good substitute for starches for glycogen replenishment, since they contain mostly water but do also contain simple sugars? Thanks.
