Eating less to compensate for calorie surplus

I'm currently on a cut. Today I ate in a calorie surplus by about 1000 cals. Would increasing my calorie deficit tomorrow by 1000 more cals (while making sure i still get enough protein) balance things out, effectively erasing this surplus?
