Constant urge to stretch during week off.

I've been back into lifting the past 8 weeks, intentionally trying to find my limits for training intensity without tearing a muscle. Recently I've Been lifting 3-4 days per week for about 1.5 to 2 hours each session. I found that limit last week after two beautifully intense sessions and...

Post Blood test (T levels)

Hi all I’ve been trying to build muscle for a while and never have really got there, I suspected low T but (I know this sounds stupid) but was too scared to actually test and I kind of closed my eyes/ ears and pretended it wasn’t a problem I finally did a private test and these are my...

Specific to hypertrophy, is Periodization necessary? If not necessary, is it optimal?

Hey all - what are your thoughts on periodization for HYPERTROPHY? Is it necessary? Is it optimal? I am speaking mostly here about linear VOLUME periodization as described below: "MAV = Maximum Adaptive Volume Finally: the range of volumes in which you make your best gains. It’s much more...

Post Newbie Questions: (48) Alternating between strength and endurance dumbbell routines

I'm pretty new, having just finished my 8th week of a 3-day dumbbell routine. I'm doing everything at home with 5-90lb adjustable dumbbells, and just splurged on an incline bench so I can add some missing lifts. I'm starting at 48 years old, and I'm completely out of shape. (Better late than...

Smile weight gain after leg day

Each morning I record my weight as part of my exercise and food log. On the two days following leg day I gain one or two lbs. I assume this is inflammation/water weight. Does anyone else have this happen?

Exclamation Squeeze your butt; lift more weight

Read that in Men's Health. Tried yesterday on one legged squats and then regular squats. And I could squat about 20 lbs. more on each rep. For the first time in my life I felt the pump in my glutes. It's awesome. But my ass has been soar all day. Made me wonder; is this how Elton John...

Volume vs Intensity

I am a simple person, I don't follow complex training schemes, I go in, I pick up the heaviest weight I can handle for about 10 reps, I rep to failure, rinse and repeat. I love handling heavy weights, I like to challenge myself, I like to feel like I left everything I had on the gym floor. Of...

Long hours

For those who regularly put 60+ hours a week in at work how do you manage your 5 day splits? It seems I only have time for work, gym and sleep 5 days a week. It’s been that way at my job since the pandemic started and there is no signs of it changing for quite some time. I’m averaging about 5-6...

Squat Form Check

I have recorded my squats from the side several times for my own review. On Monday I recorded from the rear for the first time and thought I would share for any input. I see my knees flare in a little bit which I don't think is terrible but this also wasn't a real heavy set. This was the 3rd set...

One before and one after. I may be able to lose even more around my waist and make it more narrow I believe than what the photo shop does.

Hi I never injured myself in the gym, done it on my couch, hope I don't get flak, Long story short I had a trial with a nectar mattress kept it for just under a year, but it wasn't for me, sent it back got refund, should have done it sooner, but I never, so found myself with no mattress, couldn't...

How to get into heaven while you are alive?

There is another thread about how to get there after you die. So this one is about how to enjoy this one most. Do you save your pennies to retire early, or do you spend them while you are healthy enough to hike the Appalachians, with the plan of just living on social security when you are frail?...

Anyone switch from PPL to brosplits or something similar?

With being in my 40s and work and kids, going hard on PPL leaves me wrecked. Thinking about switching to a bro split to maintain 5-6 days a week, but reducing recovery pains. Anyone do this? Did you get better results? If not bro split, what did you do?
