Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Smile Making significant progresses is quite hard

Hi everyone, I want to post here a 4 years progress of my dedication. I am 41 and this is my situation. I am trying to get rid of my bally fat, get bigger shoulders and chest and let my abs pop out (but I believe they are there, I just have too much belly fat). If you look at my progresses over 4...

Getting older - and fed up with getting injured!

As per the title, 6 months ago I injured my shoulder doing weighted dips, it's never been right since but I can work around it. 5 weeks ago I got tendinitis in my knee, and even after resting it for weeks it feels the same. Then on Tuesday this week I've strained a muscle around or inbetween...

Being athletic or just having the outer shell for looks?

This observation I guess continues from a young age to an older guy. That one guy who looks amazing, but has not one athletic ability in his bone. I grew up playing sports, doing stuff, surfing, skimboarding, skateboarding, etc. Tossing the pig iron was always there but not a priority or an...

The Most Important Thing In Training

When can I realistically expect visible results?

Hi everyone! I’m 41 and the reason I ask this question is that whilst I trained a lot in my 20’s (was super fit my entire 20’s), a little in my early 30’s, but absolutely no weight training since my second child was born 8 years ago (trained until I was 8 weeks pregnant with her then stopped when I...

Deadlift form

I know this is like my 3rd video on the deadlift, but really working on perfecting my form. This was my last set for 300lbs, my last video, on the descent the bar was swaying out, I think I have tightened up the line of path, but could use more tightening. Are my hips too high? ...

51 today! 9 years under the rack!

I’m 51 today and I’ve been back in the gym for 9 years now. This is officially 1 year longer than I lifted in my teens and twenties so long ago...with no end in sight. On my birthday I like to reflect on what I learned over the last year (about lifting and my body), and I feel this year was...

Healing slower

I'm healing at a rate 2x slow as I was in my 20's. Joints are the main problem. Have to wait 3 days sometimes to workout the same muscle group, when I used to do it every day all week and rest on Saturday and Sunday. This is bull****.

Can anyone tell me if doing pull-ups with neutral will have any carryover to doing pull-ups with a wide pronated grip? I have lost the ability to do the latter and was wondering if by doing pull-ups with a neutral grip (which I can still do) will help me transition back into wide grip pull-ups. I...

Blast from my past (lost pics)...

I don’t know, but I absolutely love it when people post pictures from when they were younger, or before and after pictures, or progress shots, or just pictures in general. In any case, I have very few pictures from “back in the day”, and even less that have anything to do with

I reached 74 kgs (162 lbs) after 7 months. However, I looked sick and horrible (lack of muscle mass or tone with...

Fat for Five Years and Two Million Dollars

For all you hard-core athletes, consider this fictitious proposition. For five years, you must stop exercising. You may walk only when absolutely necessary. Those with labor-intensive jobs would not qualify for the opportunity. You must eat 4000 to 6000 calories per day. Your diet will be dictated...
