Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official O35 Squat Competition Thread

OK, some discussions in the open forums and in PMs have resulted in this thread. The Deadlift thread has been a lot of fun and inspired some great lifting and improvement, so we're going to do the same with squats. Post your intention to join the comp, and post your entries with a clear video...

Are there exercises you can no longer do on account of aches and pains?

Just wondering if anyone else out there can't do certain exercises anymore due to aches and pains? I'm now in my early 50s but I still workout pretty hard and do cardio. I'm just dieting hard and trying to get my bodyfat down while continuing to work out. Anyway, I used to do pretty heavy bench...

Elevated AST/ALT enzymes, liver function panels

I'm posting this as a personal account for anyone who has come back with concerns following blood tests, specifically liver function. As they say, YMMV. I'm more of a runner/endurance guy than a lifter these days and it's pretty common for me to hit 3+ hours of pretty aggressive cardiovascular...

Turmeric Powder - who uses this?

So yeah...I've been using Turmeric Powder recently in my foods...putting it in damn near everything to be honest...oatmeal, shakes, over meat/veggies/rice etc. Definitely has a thermogenic effect...I can feel it...it's like a very low key niacin flush w/o the gay itchy pins 'n needles feel. ...

What would you have done differently?

this is mostly directed at people who have trained 10+ years. still a young lad, and after seeing what years of training can do to someone, I really want to be careful and not make the mistakes injured people do. Why is it that every major bodybuilder or powerlifter have bad injuries when...

Furious 5 Question

https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=159678631 I have a question about workout B in the Furious 5 routine. Does this mean that if i wish to substitute Front Squats with Deadlift, then I have to also subsitute RDL's with leg curls? I love my deadlifts and would prefer them...

So my mass amount of squats are coming to an end (was suppose to be squats everyday). I wasn't able to complete the program proper anyway for schedule reasons. I am heading on vacation. I am sure I will play around with some machines they have there and probably hit some cardio. My BF is down to a...

Garage Rat should have more reps

The guy has a great build, experience in all aspects of our "hobby", and always gives solid advice. I just noticed his reps are disproportionately low for such great contribution. I guess it's because he is rather soft spoken and measured that he slips off the radar. Just saying.

Beginner: Cutting now? Or "bulking" on?

Hey fellow BB'ers, I've been lifting now and then for some times, and only started to get serious about it a 8 weeks ago. And I have some - most likely premature - questions about managing my body fat level. TL;DR: Beginner 8 wks in Starting Strength (power clean replaced by rows and weighted...

Archer Pull-ups Holysh!t

As any new exercise one performs it is always going to be odd and a little more difficult than normal (at least it is for me). I just wanted to say that nice slow archer pull-ups really hit my lats. Like good enough I think I will add them in and maybe drop some of my close reverse grip PU. ...

Starting to take my body seriously - thoughts on plan?

For some background, I started college at 195lbs at 5'9 and was pretty chubby. I made the decision that I didn't want to go through life like that, educated myself on proper diet and over the next year dropped to 50lbs. I've lived a pretty healthy and active lifestyle ever since and been through...

Today I wanted to try a personal best of 245lbs on the bench. I had spotter and was able to do it once unaided. I don't think I could have done a pound more - it was my absolute max. Pretty sure I was holding my breath the whole time the bar was going up. After that I dropped back to my normal...
