Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Flabby Chest

Been training for years and lost a little momentum after a move. I am back and going strong, but my chest just seems flabby. I do not bench a bunch due to a wrist surgery a while back. My diet is good, I don't drink heavily and if I do its a bourbon on the rocks. I am on a 4 day workout split,...

I am 71 and Vegan. Any other older guys still lifting

I work out at Gold’s I have plenty of muscle still. I work out 3 to 4 times a week. I don’t use any animal sources for my protein. The best thing about plant sourced lifting is you never have any recovery problems. it isn’t steroids but it makes you feel that you can keep going all the time which...

Back of Tricep

It seems pressing doesn’t target the most impressive part of the triceps, the back. What are you all doing for this? I just started doing dips with my hands behind a bench with my feet stretch out as far as possible. Seems to hit that area, think I’ll need to do a lot of these. Even skull...

Are we really more fit than average?

We've all heard the statistics that something like 40 percent of Americans are either overweight or obese, and I've heard even higher than that. It's probably a nice ego boost for many of us, thinking we're more fit than the majority of men and women. But is this misleading? Technically anyone...

Natural Lifter asked if on gear

Does this happen to you - and if so, do you take offense to this? As far as I can tell, the signs of being on gear are shoulders that look capped and a larger neck. I am lacking in both departments.

Should I mini cut? Keep bulking? Pics inside

Hey guys. Ended cut in december and slowly began increasing calories in January. Weight went from 167-173 during this time. Routine-wise i ran a couple Mindpump strength programs and just recently finished Canditos 6week strength routine. Strength is maybe slightly up in a few lifts. Not sure if i...

First bulk at 45

I’m 6’3 and weighed 190 when I started (first picture). I weighted 210 in the second picture. I’m guessing my bodyfat went up 5%. So did I gain 10lbs fat and 10lbs of muscle? What do you think based on the picture? Is that a pretty good result for my first bulk? My waist went from 33in to 36in....

Personal trainer advice

I started lifting weights about 3 years ago at age 42. I got hooked. I got a personal trainer to move from machines to free weights and learned a lot, mostly dumbbell stuff though. However, my trainer wouldn’t show me deadlift and squats due to my age. Said that was a “young man’s game and...

Question How disruptive are sleep disturbances really?

Tl;Dr - Do you folks find that when life happens and you get less sleep, that it makes any noticeable differences to your gains? What happened to this forum?

I used to surf this place from 2009-2012 and it was wayyyy more active. Place seems to have completely emptied out. Revisiting after nearly a decade. Anyone able to catch me up on what happened , besides the rise of social media? Also I’m not 52. No idea why my profile says I’m 52.

New to the thread - seeking supplement advice

I am 40 yr old male - was a Division 1 college athlete and have been training consistently since HS. I am 6'4, 200 lbs and in good shape. I train 5-6 week and still lift pretty heavy. I don't do a ton of cardio - 2X a week or so - because I've never had to to stay pretty lean and I don't like...

Angry How to bench press with a bulging disc?

Have a few questions after 9 years of not lifting

Hello all, Short preface about me: I'm a 36 year old male, 6'2", large frame with 8" wrist, and 330 lbs. I used to lift for many years as a young athlete, later joining the military for 8 years and used to work out fairly regularly. I've always been "country strong" as my friends called it and...

I’m 75 and started lifting about a year and a half ago. I didn’t know what a body recomp was a year and a half ago but, apparently, that is what happened. I was 5’ 2” and weighed 143 lbs. and that is what I am now (but things have changed). When I started I plugged my numbers into a BMI...
