Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Is forearm/wrist/elbow pain normal?

I feel like the muscles can easily recover and handle more, but the soft tissue like tendons flare up, especially around inner elbow/forearm area. It's mainly my left arm. It tends to feel better after deload but gets progressively worse over a few weeks until it tells me I better deload again....

Old But Not Done Yet!

Use to lift 3x/wk into my late 60's, I am now 72. BP was respectable but squat and dead lift not so much. Life intervened about 3 years ago and lifting stopped. I can now start lifting again with no physical restrictions. Available equipment: Power rack, 300# with cheap bar (Dicks), curl bar...

Question Rowing machine..most underrated indoor equipment?

My daughter is in cross-country running and has started competing in high school. Their coach has started getting the girls onto indoor rowing machine for endurance (outside of other warmups, etc). My daughter urged me to get a machine for home use so I got a cheap $300 one from Walmart and set...

I am going to rant a minute here. I really suck at sustained weight loss. I understand the concepts, macros, weighing food, tracking calories, deficit targets- and I can put them in place, but I constantly sabotage myself. Its driving me nuts. I am stronger than I have ever been (at least on...

51 today! 9 years under the rack!

I’m 51 today and I’ve been back in the gym for 9 years now. This is officially 1 year longer than I lifted in my teens and twenties so long ago...with no end in sight. On my birthday I like to reflect on what I learned over the last year (about lifting and my body), and I feel this year was...

Degenerative Disc

Honest Educated Critique of My Workout Scheme Please

Hey everyone, Let me be very honest up front. I've avoided this forum for a long time. Why? Because the responses I read are sometimes simply uneducated, vague and frankly stupid. I'm 38 years old now; a grown man with a wife and an 11 yr old. I'm looking for mature responses from those of us...

Healing slower

I'm healing at a rate 2x slow as I was in my 20's. Joints are the main problem. Have to wait 3 days sometimes to workout the same muscle group, when I used to do it every day all week and rest on Saturday and Sunday. This is bull****.

Question Why does my whole body hurt

Why does my body hurt after an intense evening of yoga and stretching? It hurts while moving in one direction and after getting used to it it hurts moving in the other direction. Why is that? Should I move more or rest more?

Getting older - and fed up with getting injured!

As per the title, 6 months ago I injured my shoulder doing weighted dips, it's never been right since but I can work around it. 5 weeks ago I got tendinitis in my knee, and even after resting it for weeks it feels the same. Then on Tuesday this week I've strained a muscle around or inbetween...

When can I realistically expect visible results?

Hi everyone! I’m 41 and the reason I ask this question is that whilst I trained a lot in my 20’s (was super fit my entire 20’s), a little in my early 30’s, but absolutely no weight training since my second child was born 8 years ago (trained until I was 8 weeks pregnant with her then stopped when I...

Smile Making significant progresses is quite hard

Hi everyone, I want to post here a 4 years progress of my dedication. I am 41 and this is my situation. I am trying to get rid of my bally fat, get bigger shoulders and chest and let my abs pop out (but I believe they are there, I just have too much belly fat). If you look at my progresses over 4...

Being athletic or just having the outer shell for looks?

This observation I guess continues from a young age to an older guy. That one guy who looks amazing, but has not one athletic ability in his bone. I grew up playing sports, doing stuff, surfing, skimboarding, skateboarding, etc. Tossing the pig iron was always there but not a priority or an...

Deadlift form

I know this is like my 3rd video on the deadlift, but really working on perfecting my form. This was my last set for 300lbs, my last video, on the descent the bar was swaying out, I think I have tightened up the line of path, but could use more tightening. Are my hips too high? ...
