On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Pondering (MEV) Minimum Effective Volume

I've come across the concept of Minimum Effective Volume from Mike Israetel recently. I've been out of it for over 10 years and just started working out again 18 weeks ago. I've started with 10 sets for chest/back and 8 sets for biceps/triceps and was planning to add a set every 4 weeks to see...

Don't eat enough?

Extreme ectomorph. After 10 years of work out am still very skinny. Noticed that I need to eat maybe about 3000 calories if not more if I want to make serious gains. Problem is I get full too easy? I did eat 10 eggs yeaterday but I noticed that even those dont provide all protien and calorites...

Low back problems, why doesn't it get stronger?

Like many, I have lower back problems. I have slightly bulging and degenerative disks in the L4-5 region as well as some muscle issues (right above belt line). 2-3 times a year I throw out my back, sometimes it is nerve related, and others it feels strictly muscular. Just terrible DOMS, spasms, and...

Is this Too Much Volume for a Natural?

Hey everyone, So, I've been trying out high frequency/low volume training for about 5 weeks now, since I was really stalling and maybe even going backwards with a "bro split". I've made decent strength gains, but of course in this short time haven't noticed any hypertrophy. It is a 6 days a...

A "relaxed" training regime at home

Some years ago I had a quite exstensive workout regime and trained for 2 full years, white reasonable success. However these days I don't have the motivation to train like that, moreover the eating regime, with meals every 3 or 4 hours, dont suit my lifestyle. But I want to start up again,...

Cannot increase my 1RM on 5/3/1 before I need to cut again.

Sorry for the long post. I’m struggling here with how I should proceed. I am 40 years old & just under 5’8” tall. I have an extremely small frame with wrists measuring just 6” circumference. I currently weigh in at just under 130lb which does sound really light but if you look at my avi I don’t...

Chia Seeds

I recently heard about a plant called Chia. I think it is interesting to everyone. From what I've read this is really great plant with wonderful features. For example: Chia Seeds help suppress the appetite, and contribute to drain toxins from the body. Chia seeds are rich in omega 3, protein and...

Cut/bulk protein intake

For those that do cut/bulk cycles, do you change the amount of protein you get in line with the calorie increase/decrease. Or do you change your carbs/fat intake? Or all 3? I have tended to keep my protein intake the same on both bulks and cuts and change carbs/fats. But wondering if it's the...

How much will illness/lack of sleep/fasting affect natural test levels.

I have been feeling a bit off lately and don’t train with any regularity now as I have a two y/o who is hard work and a business to run. I got my doc to check my test levels and they came back at 565, however I had picked up a bug/virus from my child, was 20hrs into a fast and had not been sleeping...

Hey guys. I'm currently 42 years of age and have been an avid weightlifter for most of my life. Not quite a bodybuilder, but I certainly lived the lifestyle at times until age and injuries began to take their toll. My arms have almost always been a lagging body part for me, stemming from...

Need Help In Toning And Sculpting My Body

I have a question, I need to tone and sculpt my physique and need to know how many weights and reps I need to achieve this goal. In addition, how long will it take for me to see results, especially when I am working from my waist to my legs? Can someone help me with this question?

which would be less taxing on the body

more frequent gym visits but less time there.. not doing too much etc.. less frequent visits but hitting it harder... more sets etc... Both will have the same intensity just instead of doing more sets its split out over more visits.

Whenever i take more than a week off my body has aches over neck, back , shoulders arms etc.... like I've strained it. I never feel any aches when I'm training consistently every 2nd day... only when I take a period off it begins to happen in the second week. Is this what's called delayed...

Hi everyone. I've been a regular lurker on this site for roughly a year now and I just wanted to post and thank you all for your contributions to the site. The majority of these forums (and many lifting websites in general) really seems to skew towards oneupmanship and a general toxic vibe, but...

Using The Rack For Too Long

Is there a gym etiquette for using the rack for too long? Note that I am active and present the entire time I am using the rack. I don't use my phone, and spend 1 or 2 minutes at most resting between sets. My gym (Anytime Fitness) has two racks. I don't often see a line up, and there are some...
