Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Avoiding Hernias and Joint Damage

Hi, My name is Dillon and I'm new to the forum. Appreciate any help I can get and am looking forward to being a part of the community. Problem: How can I avoid hernias and joint damage while continuing weight lifting and exercise? Background:

0 66 Test Boosters

Pretty much all "test boosters" sold on are a waste of money, right? Has anyone had any decent results from any of them? Just curious.

First fullbody workout.

This morning I did my first fullbody workout ever. The positive, the full body pump and knowing i hit every muscle part was extremely satisfying! The bad, it was 14 degrees F in my garage this morning, and felt strange only doing 1 exercise for a bodypart, but saying that I don't feel I cheated...

Rack Deadlift

Today I put my deadlifts as the last exercise of back day, and started them from a rack, which i never do. It did feel weird to start at a standing position. Bad idea doing them this way? 17 degrees in the garage this morning, freezing my baguettes off. Last set at 245 for 6. ...

Full body

So I've been doing a Push/legs/pull routine for 2 years now and going to switch things up. Going to start a fullbody, as we all know the great old school legends like Reg Park, John Grimeck, Steve Reeves, Leroy Colbart, Paul Grant, Armand Tanny, Vince Gironda, and even Arnold all got amazing...

Growing calves - what's your sweet spot?

The most stubborn body part for me to even show some growth has always been the calfs. I have slow twitch muscles and discovered high reps do nothing for me. I used to be a long distance runner and played lots of basketball growing up, always had skinny legs and calfs. I have found...

Caffeine no longer a friend.

Who else as they got older found out that caffeine just doesn't agree with them anymore? I was taking IN-Kaged for a few years as a intra-workout, and at times during or after I would feel like sh*t. Then I would have a coffee in the morning and just feel really off. So I stopped the...

Workout intensity / length questions & critique

Hello, I’m 40 and have been training 5-6 days per week for the last 6 years or so. I have always done pretty long workouts - 90-120min including warm ups & stretching. I have been doing Push, Pull, Legs twice a week with one rest day. I’m happy with that routine - my questions have to do with...

Cement Mixer Knees

To start, I'm 43, severly overweight with edema in my legs (fluid retention), and while I've had a desk job since September 2016, I had consistantly worked retail from late August of 1992 through early June of 2016 with jobs bookending my time in retail also having me doing a ton of walking. I also...

Havent felt like myself in a while, finally going to the Doc. Advise?

Afternoon Fellas, I turned 34 last November and to put it plainly, things just haven't been the same for roughly the last year or so. Tired all the time, not sleeping well, low level of mental involvement, really low libido....down to maybe once/week with the wife and that's if she initiates,...

Spinal Stenosis

Anybody on here have spinal stenosis (degeneration of the bone in the back causing pinching of the nerves)? If so what path did you take - Pain managment or surgery? Why did you choose what you chose and did it help? Are you back to 100% now? After how long? I know this was a lot of questions,...

Need advice. Getting rotator cuff surgery based on MRI from nearly 4 years ago...

Heya folks... I have a pre-surgery meeting tomorrow for a torn rotator cuff tear (supraspinatus), I'm in a position where I could really use some advice as a lot of the doctors/surgeons I've seen seem quite ignorant on this topic... A bit of a background: Had an MRI back in March 2016, and it...

Getting back into it after a low patch!

After many years of consistent working out, last year I had a bit of a hard time. My wife was very ill with cancer, (thankfully shes come out of this now) I guess that had something to do with me losing my motivation, my training didn't seem important anymore with what was going on at the time. ...

Recommend me a shoulder workout

I'm fairly satisfied with my overall health/fitness, but my shoulders are dis-proportionally small. Give me some ideas for good shoulder routines. I'm 5'10" 168 lbs and 38 years old. I do a 3-day gym split: chest/triceps on day 1, back/biceps on day 2, and shoulders on day 3. These are spread...

help for a noob

Hi – I’m looking for some advice. I spent the last 20 years eating and drinking junk, and doing no activity. I was fat and very weak. As a kid I was sporty and reasonably strong. I’m 39 now, this year I decided to change. I’ve lost 50lbs this year, diet and exercise – bicycle mostly. I still...

Thumbs down Potential right rhomboid strain/pull, beneath my shoulder blade.

Just so we're clear, everyone has their opinions on stretching before they work out. I 90% of the time pull a muscle when I stretch before a workout and I feel like a fool for stretching upon my arrival the gym. If I do stretch is between workout, but not before the initial workout, it never works...

Lessons learned in a decade of lifting

Thought I'd close the decade by sharing a few things I've learned, many of them right here on this very site. Just over 10 years ago, I was a smoking, boozing, lost person. A whopping 6' 148lbs. Through this journey I've learned how to love myself and appreciate all that life has given me. A lot...

LF: Advice/Guidance on Mass

I have a general question and was basically hoping that one you might be able to link or send me to a guide that can provide information on gaining mass. I'm 43, 6'2" and 193 lbs. Over the course of the last 8 months, I changed my diet, began lifting and doing regular cardio, and dropped about 7%...

I don't want to hear from 185lb children, you are not big, no one outside of the lifting community even notices your physique at all ;) But has anyone got really big, as in look big in clothes, probably 250+lb presuming 6' tall, without getting a bit chubby on the way? Basically what I'm...

jeans/shorts that fit good

Does anyone know where I can find shorts and/or jeans that are made to fit someone with large thighs and a fairly small waist? Levi's 560 was a good fit until they stopped making them. I tried Levi's 559 which don't fit quite as good. Every other jeans I try on have to have a waist so big in...
