Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official O35 Squat Competition Thread

OK, some discussions in the open forums and in PMs have resulted in this thread. The Deadlift thread has been a lot of fun and inspired some great lifting and improvement, so we're going to do the same with squats. Post your intention to join the comp, and post your entries with a clear video...

Push/Pull/Leg Question

I am looking at doing this as a 5 day split instead of the 3. Doing some research, the P/P/L 3 day split is good for getting started and then maintaining. My question is would it be a problem rest wise if i did this 5 days in a row? It would be P/P/L/P/P 2 day rest and then pick back up where I...

When you don't log food?

What do you naturally gravitate towards if you don't track and log your nutrition? I'd been dillegentley logging everything in MyFitnessPal since August last year but decided to try "winging it" a couple of weeks ago. I'm not getting the amount of protein I was and I'm getting way more carbs...

Thinking of actually lifting again.....Lets start with deads!

As a lot of you guys training has been very ho-hum as of late. Past year really. I am skinny (in my head) and cant muster up much motivation. I feel weak and run down most every day and a general malaise. I have not missed any workouts still going on 7 years, but as of late, I do...

Shoulders looking for another exercise

I am weakest in the lower part of arnold presses, any idea what muscle is used in that initial press when in the curl position? What other exercise might I add to strengthen this? Thoughts or idea? Thanks

The misc group is having their annual bench press comp from now till June 24th. Be nice to see a bunch of old guys come win a few divisions with me. Currently I'm about 235 and should hit 500 or more in that division. However, summer is coming so maybe a cut to 215 which I'm not sure where that...

Talking Fitnessmans Bicep training secrets

I wasnt blessed with big arms. I can look at weights and chest and legs grow. I am short (5'9") and have short arms with no low bicep to speak of. Over the past 20 plus years I wanted arms over 18". It was not until I learned how to train my arms properly that I made that goal. I am in hopes of...

I can stack my wrists/arms under my shoulders and begin the exercise but I can only get the bar to move forward...

Set some PR's today, hyped!

This week is test week in my program, and first day went awesome. Set a new PR for Deadlift at 425lbs x3 reps, and a new PR for Strict OHP at 200lbs x3 reps. Left a little in the tank on DL, probably could've gotten 1-2 more reps, but the OHP PR was a legit 3rm , that 3rd rep took some work...

Healthy amount of weight gain per week?

Lifting 5 days a week, 6th day is cardio day. 5x5 beginners program that involves upping the weight for each lift every week. Eating healthy and trying in take in 3000 calories a day (that's the hard one for me so far). What is a healthy, and achievable, amount of weight that can be put on...

Shoulder and Benching

Any insight?

OK, gents, I tweeked my left knee about 3 weeks ago. Been icing and trying to be careful, but now its effecting my squats. I put 135 on the bar and could squat, but I get a sharp pain on the upper outside of my left knee. (think 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock). It's a sharp pain when my thighs get...

Hey all, Just wanted to promote my new "best" since returning back after almost a decade away. Two and a quarter a side for four solid reps. I felt I could have made five by but my problem was my forearm. Had pain in the past due to a workplace I was at and they were grossly overused, in one...

What should I know? Returning after decades.

Ok, I lifted as a student, and then I graduated, and life happened. Moved around for jobs, well out of it by the time I settled down. Always something sucking up time end energy, never enough to spare to get back into shape. And then I looked up and saw a stranger in the bathroom mirror and...
