Weight gain, same for all?

I have been patiently trying to manage 1/2pound a week in weight gain. Most say add 200 calories a day to do so, if I add a piece of wheat toast (with butter) daily I gain 2 pounds, I'm sure of all fat in the stomach, what gives? Rotator cuff pain
