Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

It’s been awhile since I posted. I hired a coach to simply tell me what to do and what to eat because I am just bad at managing this stuff for myself and I can admit it. I am up almost 10 pounds in 2 months at 193 and I couldn’t be happier. Diet is at 3900 50/30/20. Routine consists of 2 legs days,...

Deadlits sets and reps.

My main goal is hypertrophy. I feel I'm all over the place when it comes to sets and reps for deadlifts. Should I lower the weight and forget about getting 3 reps with a certain weight? I'm thinking 6 reps for deadlifts now, something like 4 x 6. 135 x 8 Warmup 185 x 6 225 x 6 275 x 4...

Fierce 5 one year progress report

Hi folks I’ve been on F5 for a year now, following significant weight loss. Been through a couple bulk and cut cycles (had to do one cut due to poor nutrition discipline and feeling too fat, but the other was planned - in retrospect, a leaner bulk may have been better). I’m currently leaning out...

Can't lift arm

My left arm won't lift past my shoulder. It's been like this for weeks. I can't go to doctor so rest is all I can really do. Since I can't lift heavy I'm thinking of doing high reps on everything. Good idea?

Lowering BP

Had a stress test today and my BP went up to 200/80 with HR at 135. They didn't do the 2nd half of the test where you go for broke. Just wondering if taking some of the nitric oxide products out there would have helped that gig. Kind'a scared to exercise now. CK

Probiotic Benefits?

I'm 46 years old. 5'8" and 180 Lbs. I've lifted weights my entire adult life. I'm not in too bad of shape but my gut has been increasing in size over the last 8 years. I've tried diets and lots of cardio but I just don't have the will power or intensity I had in my 20's and 30's. Also nearly...

Lower weight, slower tempo, higher reps for Hypertrophy?

I've been back lifting for a while now , mostly based around the 6-8 rep range, decent progressive overload over time and strength gains but can't really say seen much noticeable muscle development in last 8-12 months There's a guy at my gym who I've been watching for a while. He's built like a...

Results and Pics - First Bulk at 51 Years Old

The summer cut started today! So I took some progress pics last night to document my first ever gaining phase. I have a lot of details to share that others always ask about but I tend to get to get wordy and will probably overwhelm most so I will start with the summary and pics. And then I...

New Motivation

I spent all of last week south of the border enjoying some much needed R&R with the old lady. I am not super strict with my eating as I follow IIFYM but I went down with the mindset that I would eat what I want, when I want and enjoy myself, especially being we had all-inclusive. Even with this...

best way to use 15 minutes for dumbbell workout

What is the best way to maximize results if I have 15 minutes per morning for a dumbbell routine? I'm able to exercise 5-7 days per week and my morning consists of 15 minutes treadmill + 15 minutes dumbbells. The apartment gym has only dumbbells up to 40lbs, but I'm not worried because right now, I...

New Member, 36YO getting back into it

Howdy all, it's been about 10 years+/- since I've lifted with any seriousness, I honestly miss it and the way I used to feel, so with recent changes in my life, I've decided to get back into lifting. History/backstory: In high school I was on the varsity soccer team freshman and sophomore year,...

Two day split

Hello, my name is Evan, I'm 37 and after six months of laziness, I've decided to start working out again. chest question

Hi all;) Quick intro : In january 2018 I decided to hit the gym after more than 12 years of inactivity (used to do lots of sports but injuries, work and probably excuses :/ made me stop when I was 26) So at 38 I had to teach my muscles the pain of weights again. Mostly did a full body workout...

Do you have to eat more carefully on a bulk?

Perhaps this seems like an odd question. During my cut I religiously weighed my food and counted my macros. I'd never go over my deficit calories apart from once a month cheat meal, or if it was someone's birthday or special occasion (such as Christmas Day dinner). On such occasions I'd eat as...

Lengthy acromion soreness

last June I injured the acromion shoulder muscle (right side), I believe while doing overly heavy machine flyes. Pain has persisted since then. About 2 months ago, I went to the doctor who took X-rays, which revealed nothing except "wear and tear" of the shoulder, which they attributed to...
