On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

My body transformation journey

Hi all Hi all I am a 43 year old dad of 5. In January 2020 I suffered a pulmonary embolism. Basically blood clots on both my lungs....I nearly died. I quickly realised I was not in the best of shape and as we just entered our first lock down in the UK I wanted to change my body and my bad eating...

Just saying Hi

So just over a year ago I started lifting. Had never touched a barbell in my life. Things went good. I was doing 5x5 stronglifts. Last August in hit the 1000lb club. Then a couple months ago I got a concussion so took a couple weeks off. Then I fell on the ice and hit my head again. Ha. So had to...

UK gyms reopen maybe July?

No date but rumour is gyms in UK reopen July if all is well. The uk's trade association for gyms ukactive has guidance which is fairly vague https://www.ukactive.com/covid-19 but does have specific things such as workout towels banned, 3m squared per person and obvious things about cleaning....

50M/5'10.5"/148lb Struggling with chest/stomach fat (pics)

I've always been skinny, and several years ago started getting more chest/stomach fat. I've worked out(weights and elliptical for cardio) for a number of years, but haven't progressed much because a spinal fusion and rod don't allow me to lift heavy. My diet is fairly decent, but could be better. ...

Dips After Long Hiatus

I was cleaning up my basement/gym area this weekend and after the junk laying around my dip station was cleared, I figured what the heck, let's see what this feels like. I have been unable to do dips for probably 10 years or so due to wonky shoulders, but to my surprise, there was essentially zero...

The Bench Press

Last set for 185lbs x 6. The barbell bench press gets a back rap today in the fitness world, in fact most workout advice in today's world is horrible. You need to really shift through the sands to find some sound advice. Or to make it easier just only read about old school bodybuilding. I’m...

Proud of me

I use the playbook app to do my spin sessions. Gabriella guarvara is my go to person. However there were Gremlins in the mix! First I got booted out of my app, then my phone didn't recognize that I was casting so it kept shutting down. It also kept going into landscape mode causing my ride to...

Patellar Tendon Pain

Anyone else deal with patellar tendon pain? Jumper's Knee, I hear it's called. It showed itself several weeks ago. It gets really bad after leg day and a few days after. I took a break for two weeks. I spent one week on a cruise where I just did some light work with the machines on the cruise ship....

Type 2 diabetes folks around ?

beginner soreness - push through? or allow the body to rest/regenerate?

After a few weeks of doing kinda stupid waste-of-time exercises because I didn't know any better I tried my first modified Fierce 5 routine yesterday. I substituted pull-ups for the face-pulls because I don't have any kind of cable machine (only completed 4 before I was too weak to get in another...

356 max

I just got back to lifting in Dec. And set a goal of CT 's bench record for my age 67 and weight 222 bracket. I currently use 65-90 dumbbells 12 reps each as a warm up. Then switch to barbell to get to a goal of 260 x 6 which will get me to 312 max as a starting point on my way to 356. My...

High rep workout

I was recently told by my eye doctor to cut back on weight training. This will be at least a 5 week layoff but could potentially be several months or more. I currently run F5 U/L. My question is has anyone had success with higher reps and lower weights and if so what would the workout look like?...

Messed up my lower back!!

I'm never touching dead lifts again. I got to where I wanted to be. Between the deadlifts and my awkward sleeping positions my lower back finally had enough. I push to hard and get sloppy form eventually Once I heal and get better I'll start off slow and light. I'm going to be intimidated of...

What are your thoughts regarding going to failure?

Hey all - What are your thoughts regarding going to failure? (failure defined as not being able to do another rep with proper form). Of course there's lots opinions on the web (Dr. Mike Israetel says no need to because it will negatively impact your next workout so leaving 2 reps in the tank is...

duplicate-post from introductions - 41 years old, never lifted - HELP

I'm a 41 year-old dude and I guess I'd fit the definition of skinny-fat. I played soccer and basketball in high school and was relatively toned into my early 20s, but never actually built... just leaner and you could see my small muscles when I had so little body fat. I'm here seeking advice...

Deloading.... Intensity vs volume? Your thoughts?

until today I have never truly deloaded. The closest I came was taking a few days off from time to time when my shoulder hurts. My normal routine is Push/Legs/Pull/Off Repeat. I woke up today and just felt "off" (note - I have been in a 500 calorie deficit for 4 weeks but have managed to keep my...
