Benefits of drop sets

I did drop sets this friday, and I have such a soreness it is crazy. I did it to do something different, but what is the purpose ? Is it more for cutting ? Or bulking ? Since I do both, lift heavy and high reps.

Wife has expressed an interest in starting weight training, advice?

It has taken almost three years for my wife to partake in what I do, but I am still surprised she has expressed an interest. She joined a gym a month ago, and has been going to a few classes (Legs. Bums and Tums type of thing). She (and her friend who she goes with) have asked me to show...

Advice on calorie deficit (belly fat)

Hello all, In the last few weeks I've tried to get my protein up to 1 gram per pound of bodyweight without using too much of my protein powder. I starting eating a yogurt (14 grams) and a cheese stick (8 grams) in the am and a bag of peanuts (8 grams) in the evening. The problem is, Ive gained 2...

Stronglifts 5x5 and time limitations

Hi guys, I'm 40 (almost 41), and I've been following Stronglifts 5x5 (as closely as I can) for about 7 months now and although the first 6 weeks or so I did show a good linear progression on everything, since then I just seem to have stalled on everything multiple times. I've reached my body...

Deadlift Formcheck

Hi all, I'm 39. Been training for just under 2 years now. I'm a stickler for form on all my exercises. The deadlift is the one I've tried my hardest to ensure that to the best of my ability I maintain decent form. I've posted two videos below. One @ 175kg x 5 reps and one at 197.5kg @ 5 reps. As...

Smile Keto VS. 40/40/20 diet

Hey all, I would love some nutritional advice. I've lost 120lbs so far and over the past 7 months have been hitting the gym daily, sometimes twice a day and about 1.5 months ago I hit a plateau and have been stuck with my weight and body fat staying pretty consistent. My diet was pretty solid doing...

Question Need an advice on routine.

Quick run down. I am 46 and been going to the gym for about 4 years. I came a long way from 220lbs and 25%BF. Currently I am fluctuating between 180 -185 lbs and at about 15% BF. My goal is to get down to 10% - 11% BF. I am on calories deficit right now at about 1800 cal per day with flexible...

10kg green training IWF bumper plates

Can I drop (or lay them down roughly) these while they are on a proper IWF 20kg bar? Resurrecting my snatch and related lifts now that I am at home, there is going to be a lot of misses early on. I hear different things from different folks. Thanks CPW

It's been a while

It's been a while since I've posted here. I think maybe I'm back, kind of. After my hip replacement, I guess I kind of went through some depression realizing that I couldn't compete in strongman anymore. A few months ago, I had my two year checkup with my surgeon, he basically said my hip...

"Scrawny to Brawny" - anyone see this?

I was at Borders last night and saw a new workout book called "Scrawny to Brawny." Has anyone else seen this book? I looked at it for a little while and it seemed not all that different from many of the other books that are already out there on the subject of working out and building muscle. ...

Need some major help getting started.

Quick run down. I'm 39 & haven't worked in 5 years due to an injury. I have done absolutely nothing in the past 5 years. My job was very physically demanding & was always in good shape. Now I'm tired of being out of shape. Started going to the gym 3 weeks ago. I'm 6'4" & weigh 238. I'd like to cut...

Squat form check

Just started incorporating squats a couple of months back. Right now I'm focusing on form, as opposed to trying to add any significant weight. Would you be able to provide some feedback? Biceps sits higher after partial distal biceps tendon tear...

About two months ago I partially tore my left biceps tendon. Lots of pain but maintained full range of motion in elbow and forearm so the ER doctor said all I needed was rest, didn't do an x-ray (in hindsight I wished I had insisted). Now, two months later, I am about 80-90% back to normal after...

Vertigo/ labyrinthitis

Anyone here had viral labyrinthitis before? It's an inner ear condition that makes you dizzy all the time. Ive had it for two weeks and finally got back to the gym today but still could only give about 75 percent. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and how long it took to resolve?

Dead check

Just added deads again a week ago, took a video of one of the heavier for me singles to see if form was breaking badly. Please offer any thoughts. I noticed being out of sync coming down to the floor looping around my knee. Went to straps at 315, as i couldn't do a mixed grip without feeling...

Had Gyno Surgery Today

Wow I haven't posted in a LOOONG time! I stayed out of the bb.com scene for a while which leads me to the subject matter. I'm 35 years old, 5'9" 170 with around 10-12% bodyfat. No beer gut but a little protrusion. I had the gyno since my late teens and it just very slowly got worse over the...

Strong but not muscular looking

SLAP Tear (Labrum)

Nine weeks ago today I was doing triples on the flat bench with 260 and felt a sharp, sharp pain in my right arm on my third rep about halfway up. I could not really move my arm after and went to the ortho a few days later and was diagnosed with a biceps tendinitis. He said four to six weeks, cut...
