Losing Hope

I worked out 2 time's a week hard for 3 months. I ate alot of chicken and rice had some water. I gained 3 pounds. Did I get weak and eat some bad food? Yes I did. Did I drink some diet coke? Yes I did. So the lesson learned is to work out 5 times a week. I should be hitting the treadmill...

STRESS..The intangibles of progress or lack thereof, ....or worse loss of gains

Been while. Hope you all had a great Christmas and Happy New year. It has been seven years since I have been back in the gym. My progress is something that has all but stopped for sometime now, but I am comfortable with where I am. My progress the last few years is subtle, but still there....

I want to be strong but i've had pain around the elbow everytime i trained for past 4 weeks. Turns out i wasn't working on my brachialis and brachioradialis muscles. Now that i have, there's no pain whatever. Through my experience, it works for my age group to train those muscles. Its not...

Reverse Diet or Keep Grinding

I'm 44 years old. I've been dieting for 2.5 years and have lost 90 pounds. I lift weights 4 days a week and do cardio 4-5 days a week. I have an office job, so I sit all day. In the past 4 weeks I have only lost 1 pound. I'm just curious if my metabolism hasn't adapted enough over the past 2.5...

Elbow tendonitis - original thread disappeared?

I started a thread here about a week ago regarding tendonitis I've developed in both elbows. There was quite a bit of positive feedback, and then I noticed over the last day or two that the thread is completely gone! I have no idea where it went, and wasn't given any notification as to whether it...

Low Glucose Postprandial and Testosterone Reading Due to Low Carb Diet?

Hi, Lately, I had been feeling very low and that got me to my GP who suggested to take some tests done. Everything seemed fine except for two things: Glucose Postprandial and Testosterone readings which were 58 and 518 respectively. Glucose reading in fasting came 93 (Hba1c 5.5), which is normal....

Can only 50% of your surplus go to muscle gain even at +250?

Of course you'll never convert everything to muscle but I thought that training hard and keeping the surplus at around +250 could get you maybe 80/20 muscle to fat. But I recently read about the "p ratio" that says only elite genetics can achieve that; the vast majority of us can only hope for...

My before and after photos (aged 35)

In my early 30s, I was really unhappy with my physique as I'd always been overweight (195lbs at my peak with a 40" beer belly). I wanted to improve my physique by the time I reached my mid-30s so that I could take my top off on the beach without being embarrassed. Therefore, in 2015, I started...

Sholder noises doing presses.

Hi! I'm 59 and doing presses with 26 lbs of weight, plus those old school large iron collars on a 4ft bar, so figure 30lbs total. I hear and feel a popping sound from my right shoulder on the down movement. Doesn't hurt, should I be concerned or is this typical old age noises? Thanks, Mark.

Anyone With Shoulder Arthritis?

Learned recently that I have osteoarthritis in my left shoulder, probably from an old (non-lifting) injury many years ago. Still managing to lift pretty well, but the issue is likely to progress. Anyone out there dealing with this? Any special approach that's worked for you?
