Cardio Bunny here. Body shape problems

Hey Everyone. This is my first post though I have been a lurker. I probably started the thread with the wrong title. I am/was a couch potato for the last 10 years that decided moving a bit more is a good idea and the easiest way I found without feeling overwhelmed is walking :) For the last...

New Member looking for advice/input

Hi everyone, I just signed up and was looking for some info and advice. I apologize in advance for being long winded. My story starts June 2015. I was having some vision issues and long story short was diagnosed with MS. I’m 5’9 and at the time I weighed about 250lbs. I struggled with things...

Strength Standards Do the standards at the above link seem "right"? They seem low to me. As in I'm ranking higher than it seems I should, and I see guys in my gym that are at or above the elite level.

How many hours a week do you train?

Bodybuilding and cardio training are counted, but not playing sport. Of course it is a full time proposition with lifestyle, rest and nutrition all being vitally important, but I thought it might be interesting to see how much time people actually spend training. I train for 4.5 to 5 hours a...

Calorie intake

Growing a little concerned here. As you guys know I recently cut for just under 3 months and lost close to 25 pounds. After the cut i let my intake creep back up slowly. My daily burn is calculated at 3200 so for the past 3 weeks and some change I have been eating at 3750. EVERYTHING going into my...

Working out with joint pain, need advice

What is the consensus on working out with joint pain? I'm torn between lighter weight and higher reps on the free weights to working out with machines by loading as much weight as I can comfortably handle. Let's just say a medical issue caused me to have severe elbow, back, and knee pain and it...

Deadlift substitute - weighted hyper extensions

If you're like me, having deadlifts in your program can crush your recovery. I've recently traded deadlifts for weighted hyper extensions. This allows me the benefits of deadlifts without taking away from my main focus, squats. In particular, I try to focus on thoracic flexion to extension which...

I took Creatine Monohydrate for several months in the fall and in early December took a couple months off from the gym (big mistake) and am just now starting back. <UGH> I was really dreading the bloated feeling Creatine gives me and since I'm about 40 pounds overweight anyway I decided to...

Evening Vs Morning Training (recovery?)

Hey all, Just wondering if there are any studies on what is better for training and recovery when it comes to when you work out. Reason I'm asking is because I feel for me it makes sense to evening train, go home and grab dinner and my shake, a couple hours later I'm in bed sleeping. It's like...

How much running is too much?

I've read that running interferes with growth if you do it too much (and not even raising your calorie intake fully offsets those effects). Anyone have a rule of thumb for acceptable lengths of steady state cardio? I'm running about 45 minutes a day and slowly raising that amount.

How big can arms get naturally?

Just wondering what sort of limit there is to natural arm growth? Does your height make much of a difference? I'm not talking about one genetic freak who manages to get huge arms but in general what's the sort of limit? Should also add that I don't want to talk about the arm size of people who...

Am I overtraining?

Hi there Two weeks ago my weight dropped a bit. Haven't made any gains since. I'm a 42 yo ectomorph. I try to eat 30 grams of protein every 3 hours and I take 5 grams of creatine every day. My workouts take about 60 min. My schedule is as follows: Monday: Chest, shoulders (Bench press,...

Do your kids exercise

I've lost 100lbs over the last 11 months and probably the best thing that has happened is the interest that my son (7) has showed in the whole process. He's eating better "with dad". He also loves to be in the garage when I lift/exercise. He wants to also do something. Obviously I'm not going...
