Syringomyelia and Weight Training

After doing some research for a recent vertigo attack, I decided to go to the doctor today to pick up medical records related to an MRI done 11 years ago. Back then all I remember is the neurosurgeon telling me I'm good to go, but the records say I have something called syringomyelia. Been doing a...

New to bodybuilding at 46

Hey guys: I have a bit of a weird story to share. Back in my early 20's I started lifting weights. An illness hit me at the time and I could not longer lift for a time. A few years later I tried to get back into it but couldn't bench anymore or find my rhythm. Between moving around, trying to...

Hypoxemia ... help!

Has anyone ever developed hypoxemia after gaining lots of muscle? In 2013 I decided to get serious about lifting and gained 20 lbs of muscle over 2 years, but now hypoxemia is limiting my workouts; even every day activities. I have been examined by numerous doctors of varying specialties and none...

how many pull-ups - avg./typical U.S. // fit 50-yr-old man ??

Greetings - I was wondering ... How many pull-ups do you think the average 50-year-old American male can do? And how many pull-ups do you think a fit 50-year-old male should be able to do? In part idle curiosity, but mostly trying to set a reasonable target for myself.

DL reps 205! And further update after 15 months and a question

Proud of my old self. I’m more or less following Starting Strength with many modifications for age, injuries, and lifestyle. 15 months ago I could only occasionally pull 135, with pain. Last night, despite a shoulder injury which set me back six months, a super busy career, kids, a life, and my...

Wink Getting back at 50

Hey guys getting back after about 5 yrs. Looking to lose weight and get stronger. Been back 2 weeks now and the initial soreness is feeling good. Going to get a decent protein to help and a preworkout down the road. I'll try to document my progress so it helps me be accountable. Cheers all.

I made a program, would welcome feedback

I just came off doing the F5 novice routine for almost a year and felt it had run its course, but I was cutting that entire time rather than trying to gain. Successfully lost almost 60lbs, so mission accomplished there. Now time to switch gears and build some muscle. After a year on the beginner...

Barbell Row

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NQM2sVPt7Q How's the form? Looks like I should be leaning over more, but at this angle I still feel it in the back. This set was at 185lbs.

It's time for a change

Recently I went from 5-6 days a week of working out to 4. I also decided to cut the sets down to 2. But have kind of inflated them a bit. I was beginning to wonder about my nervous system, and also assessed why I spent two-three hours every time in the gym. When I was doing five days, I would do...

Bulking macros on training/rest days

Just starting a clean bulk. I see conflicting info on macros for bulk and rest days (shocking!). Some people say load up on carbs on training days, then cut way back on rest days while raising fat intake. Others say just keep things consistent and drop carb macros by 100 or so on rest days. I...

soreness elimination
