1000 Calorie Surplus?

I need about 2000 calories to maintain my weight. If I eat an extra 1000 calories consisting of mainly protein and carbs, will it gain me muscle? I'm panning on working out at least 1-1.5hours per day. I'm trying not to gain much fat so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Bulk or cut

Okay, so I've looked through most of the beginner threads and haven't really found an answer that fits me. I'm 5,9" (waist 30") and it's been about two years since I started trying to lose weight. I've gone from 173 to 133 in that time span. I've been lifting during that period but I haven't...

Am I overtraining?

I workout a 5 day split with 4 days In a row I go to the gym then take a rest day then go back to the gym then another rest day. I typically do 6-9 excersises per muscle 4 sets of 12 reps each exercise. That's 24-36 sets per muscle. My goal is to bulk up and I've been working out for about 7...

Unhappy Love handles love handles good old love handles

Hey everyone So basically I've been training for 4 months, gained some decent mass, I'd say 4kg of lean muscle so far, but these love handles man. I'm trying to slowly get rid of them by eating at a maintenance (as I'm losing a decent bit of fat slowly), but I can't seem to pinch the fat in my...

Why the traditional Rippetoe/SS program sucks balls.

I hope this does not degenerate into a split versus full body debate. That has been done to death a million times. In this thread I am going to address why I believe in SS and higher frequency training, but also why I believe that the traditional SS route is not optimal. I will endeavour to make...

How much protein should I intake daily?

I'm in quite a dilemma. Some websites say per pound of bodyweight to consume a gram of protein. Other sites say less. My question is, is it necessary to eat that much protein because I find it difficult to consume that amount in a day. I only weigh 95.6 pounds, but I only consume around 60...

squatting problems...

After a set of squats i get quite a bit of pain in my upper back (between my spine and right shoulder blade) I have a feeling that this is due to my right trap being smaller than my left, causing the bar to sit in unevenly. Is this likely the reason my back is hurting? and if so how do i fix...
