Bodybuilding vs. Powerlifting?

Which is safer? I'm getting back in to doing a more bodybuilding style of training with low weight, high reps, quality form. I've noticed a lot of football players at my school, who pretty much train powerlifting, all posting videos lately. I've seen people posting 300 lb benches, 500 lb squats,...

Two quick questions

1. Whenever I increase the weight for one type of exercise I can’t seem to do the normal weight for another exercise. Why is that and is that bad? 2. I can never seem to improve from 20-25 lbs with bicep curls even after weeks of training. My form is good too. Why is that?
