I need help from experienced people!

A basic rundown of who I am. I’m 20 right now, I am in the army as an infantryman, I failed rasp and am now in big army. So I failed rasp and ended up in a regular unit. I love the guys here but our NCO’s suck and as time goes on I feel more depressed. I workout on my own during the week...

Post I've maxed my LP on OHP

So a few months ago I hit 165lb for 2, 162.5 for 3 as well. Fast forward to now, my standard bench stops improving so I've switch to ohp first then larsen benching in my full body workouts. My ohp topped at 160 for 2. I think I've maxed my novice/intermediate LP on the OHP, but I'm seeing...

Pull ups vs. pull down cable

I have switched from lat pull downs to assisted pull ups. My reason is that there’s no cheating, no torso bend to help. I do multiple grips to hit all the back. Much better results. Still learning after 40 years in the gym.

Smith machine opinions.

I used to laugh at people using the Smith rack. Now I’m using it some. One reason is that i workout solo and can get out of a bad spot easily on the smith. Like with a chest press. Secondly, I can focus on the movement and muscle engagement and not have to worry about balance. Like with...

Psych up pre-lift

On a lighter note - we all know Ronnie's "lightweight!", is there anything you often do to try and psych yourself up for a heavy lift? I know a lot of guys like some loud metal to get it done. And I knew a guy who would always say "this one's for <girls name>!" on the last rep :D What do you...

Is it spine soreness or muscle soreness (upper back, hex-bar deadlifts)

I only do 4 lifts and i do them about 9 out of 10 days. One set every 2 hours all day. I just lift to keep healthy at my desk job. Hex-bar deadlifts with 250 lbs and weighed pull-ups with 50 lbs on Olympic rings (plus dips and incline dumbbell press). The upper back soreness only presents...

Exclamation Grip strength weakened during work out

Anyone ever lose grip strength during a workout? I was doing back and bi's today and midway through my workout my grip and forearm strength were significantly weaker on my left arm. Weighted vest cardio safe?

Hey guys, so I love cardio, I don't do it to lose weight, I do it because I love it, I love the challenge of willpower, and it's good for the heart and brain. I conditioned myself to be able to do 200 steps in 20 minutes on level 10 on the stairmaster consistently 7 days a week without fail,...

Opinions on smith machine hip thrust versus regular barbell hip thrust

Title says it all. I stick with the regular due to using stabilizer muscles. Is one necessarily better than the other? I'm looking for more info about this subject.

French press vs. skull crushers

I've been stickn' to pressdowns and dips, and have seen some pretty crazy results, my tris are finally not the weakest group. Uhm, i just kindof want a clarification though: french press is not past your forehead while a skull crusher is? if so, whats better on your elbows (ive had issues that...

Better bench accessory: Close Grip Bench vs DB Press

I’m starting a new training block and my bench press touch and go has been stalled for around a month or so now (stuck at 275). I’ve been mainly doing touch and go bench and OHP and floor presses for assistance. This coming block I’m trying to change it up to perhaps break through the plateau....

Back pain from squatting with long femurs

Hi everybody. So I've been squatting for about 2 years now, but have been unable to make solid progress due to lower back pain. The problem is I’m 6’1 and have extremely long femurs and a short torso so it makes the squat very difficult. As a remedy, I've raised my heels on a pair of 5lb plates and...
