i bought a Calorie Counting Jump Rope made by Bally Total Fitness for $4... do u think the counting is accurate? all it asks for is your weight and measures time and number of cycles.

I would have thought unless there are pads on the handles taking your heart rate and factoring it in that it is just based on time and speed you jump or maybe how many time you jump it. I do know that jumping any rope for about 30 minutes would burn approx 330 calories. I didn't think there was a jump rope that counted the calories you burned. Are there pads on the handles?

So when you enter 220lbs, does it assume your a fat 220 or lean 220......it cant, so it assumes your an average 220????

Just use it as a guide, thats all. Just try to better it each time, and you'll see improvements.

If you do it fairly high intensity skipping, your metaboilsm will be jacked up big time . Thats the beauty of afterburn! Skip rope for 15 mins I think, burns the same amount of cardio as 30 mins of jogging which is approx 300 cals IMO.
