How many carbs should I put down a day?

Im on the rippetoe starting strength routine now.

weight is like 173. 5'11

State your goals (ie., gaining mass, losing weight etc...)

it depends on your diet.. 40/40/20? bulking/cutting?
simply if your bulking 173x15=2595cals total (260gr carbs)
for cutting 173x12=2076cals total (208gr carbs)

Okay. The good thing is that you're prime for "newbie gains" again :). Try this:

Protein-250g
Carbs-250g
Fat-100g Total Approx cals = 2900

This should be a good start. See how your body reacts to this for at least 4wks. Weigh yourself weekly. Get as much of your fat intake form healthy EFAs. You can always add to the protein later on, as well as increase carbs if your' body reacts well. Good luck.

how active are you? and metabolism? riptoes is a good program and you will burn alot with the total body workouts and if you are really active on the side i would eat even more than 2900 cals.
