My opinions?

Get cleared by a Doc, maybe hire a trainer for a few months.

Start low and slow, with high reps and isometric excercises.

Make sure that your connective tissue is as fit as your muscle. You also want minimize the inflamamation around the scar tissue.
Become friends with glucosomine and aspirin.

DB or BB presses with higher reps with around 60% of your 1RM
Shoot for 12-15. Once you get over 15 reps then go up by 5-10 pounds. Switch up after a few weeks to a lower rep scheme and higher weight.

For deads I would throw in some hyperextensions and SLDL to help with supporting muscles. Again higher reps. Lower comes later.

Most important. Be patient your 50 something not ninety something. Youngster.

FUDOG 1138 thanks for the advice...

the surgery was abdominal and the scarring is a bother....
i supplement with c and e twice a day and multi pac once.
also a baby aspirin. have not tried condroitin yet; but will.
work out twice a week, one upper and one lower. workouts
are intense and short. i guess intense is relative; but they are for
me and gains are continuing. again thank you......................

Cool bud. Look into negative effects of to much Vitamin E when you get a chance. To much is a bad thing.

Best of luck,

Slow gains are good!!! It's the fast ones you worry about.. Keep it up and remember patience..

Double bump on the patience as well as the high rep workouts for now.

As far as glutamine, I am taking 10-15 per day spread throughout the day on an empty stomach. I add an extra teaspoonful to my post workout shake also. When I start cutting in March, I will probably double that dosage.

About the incision from your surgery....

Rather than taking the vitamin E orally, pick up some Vitamin E oil, some aloe vera, and some tea tree oil, and put this directly on your incision. Do this twice a day until the scar disappears.

IT will make a big difference for you...

Good luck
