View Full Version : Newb Question about gaining weight (lbs per week)

Lets say you're bulking and weigh 170lbs the first week. The second week you go on the scale and it reads the same. The third week you go back on the scale and it reads 174. Does that mean you gained 4 lbs all in one week, or is it possible that you gained those 4lbs during 2 weeks, but the scale just read the same during that 2nd week?

try to weight yourself like every sunday mornin soon as you wake up and take a leak, this way its semi-accurate, for bulking 2lbs a week is good , you gain too fast you might be gaining alot of fat, when I did my bulk at the 5th week I was up 10lbs but same time had flat abs still thru out the process....so make sure its clean lbs and not fat, but yes you can 4lbs a week.

Weight gain is affected by a multitude of variables:

1. Water retention
2. GI content
3. Clothing
4. Fat storage/usage
5. Muscle breakdown/synthesis
6. Glycogen stores

Chances are you gained a little the first week, cheated the 2nd week and ate stuff with too much sodium and caused extra water retention.

4pounds of mostly muscle in 2 weeks would be pretty impressive.
