The best beans are: Black eyed, Pinto, Red, Kidney, Black

I know this isn't exactly what you were asking, but you might want to know it anyway :)

Cool...I got some dry ones. Beans from scratch are on the way!

1 1/2 cups lean ham, diced(or whatever meat you want)
1/4 cup of honey or Blackstrap molasses

Salt and pepper to taste

Spray a large nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium heat until hot. Add onions and saute until tender. Combine onions and remaining ingredients in a baking dish and mix well. Bake covered for 45 minutes (uncover for remaining 15 minutes for drier beans).

That sounds good! Could I just do it in a crockpot, with dry beans soaked overnight?

the crockpot should work just fine, and the dry beans would be much better than the canned.
