RETAIN™
<img src="http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i83/Scheizekopf1/Retain.jpg">

Retain™ is formulated to be a synergistic protein sparing repartitioning agent that works based upon well know principals of science… we just did it better and more cost effectively.

INTRODUCING YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND FOR LEAN MASS TISSUE RETENTION… AND ADDITION

Lower cortisol levels in muscle tissue.
Significant lean mass retention or addition
Decreased water retention
Faster recovery
Increased strength
Improved body composition

Several hormones and hormone-like-substances trigger catabolism or muscle wasting. Glucagon does so by setting into motion a series of metabolic events that result in the release of fatty acids, amino acids, and glucose/glycogen from body tissues to restore blood circulatory glucose and energy substrate levels. However, the group we are most concerned with are called corticosteroids or glucocorticoids. This is a group of steroids that originate at the adrenal cortex of the adrenal glands (above your kidneys). The most commonly discussed hormone of this group is cortisol. When a cortisol molecule merges with a muscle cell cortisol receptor-site, it triggers the release of amino acids from the cell. That probably does not sound like a big deal until you realize that these amino acids come from the breaking down of the muscle cell proteins. This of course means all of that hard earned lean mass tissue begins to waste away and become energy or toilet trash.

Cortisol levels are elevated as a result of stress. Unfortunately, the body views stress stimuli such as increases in muscle tissue mass, training, sickness, and the spouse in a bad mood as reason to increase circulatory cortisol levels. Cortisol production can also inhibit endogenous GH and testosterone production while fueling pathways that allow fat to accumulate around the waste and upper legs.

Two Sides of the Muscle Mass Augmentation Equation

The use of anabolic/androgenic steroids (AAS) or hormonalogs triggers anabolism or tissue building (more commonly referred to as protein synthesis) in excess of what is considered normal. In short, packing on the beef. This is a means of altering the balance or ratio between anabolism/catabolism in favor of anabolism and increased muscle mass. During protocols employing hormonal substances such as hormonologs, the body attempted to re-establish the balance between anabolism/catabolism (homeostasis) in a variety of ways. First, after a few weeks, the body begins to step-up cortisol production to trigger catabolism equal to AAS induced anabolism.

Second, through aromatization, his body attempts to create excessive estrogen levels that would induce a negative feed-back loop resulting in HPTA suppression. The excessive unnatural estrogen levels would have also triggered female pattern fat deposits, gyno, water retention and prolactin release. (which are counter-productive for the most part) Excess fat accumulation is also a major aromatase enzyme production site. (Yikes! More on this…see Ultra HOTter™)

Back To Muscle Wasting…

As most of you know, steroids, prohormones and hormonalogs help you get bigger and stronger by up-regulating anabolic processes within the body. They aid greatly in tipping the scales in our favor in terms of protein synthesis vs protein degradation. However, what you may not know is how "anti-catabolic" steroids and prohormones are as well. Simply put, this means they can also block some of the nasty effects of cortisol, a hormone which I mentioned earlier that can rob you of hard-earned muscle tissue pretty fast. A major problem occurs once a cycle of steroids or PH’s has been completed, in that the very compounds that were keeping cortisol at bay have now been removed from the picture, and just at a time when the body is looking to re-achieve the balance between testosterone and cortisol that it so badly desires.

So here’s the ugly scenario...your body wants more cortisol, so it enhances production of a hormone called adrenocorticotropin, or ACTH, which in turn triggers the adrenal cortex to pour out more cortisone/cortisol. You no longer are taking steroids, PH’s or Hormonalogs, so not only will your body have less androgens, but more muscle-wasting cortisol screaming through your veins and your muscles! The result is a bodybuilder’s worst nightmare, as you will now be in a state where protein breakdown is exceeding protein synthesis, which means only one thing...declining lean muscle mass!
What to Do…

Retain Phases are a way of creating a state of “protein sparing”. When we altered the anabolic/catabolic ratio by decreasing protein wasting, we realize a net gain in lean tissue mass. Let me explain that.

Some studies have stated that we gain and lose daily, equal amounts of protein based tissue at a rate of bodyweight x 1.818 expressed in grams. Obviously we have the ability to increase protein based tissue mass either by addition (Anabolism) or by accumulation (Protein sparing/anti-catabolic/saving). And for many, just decreasing the loss side of the equation a little bit results in superior post-cycle retention.

This is like a checking account. If we have a daily deposit of $100 and withdrawal $100 daily, then our account is in a state of homeostasis or “no change balance”. But if we increase our daily deposits without also increasing or daily withdrawals we increase by addition (Anabolism). Now, how about if we left our daily deposits at $100 but decreased our daily withdrawals? Yes, you are right. Our account would experience an increased balance daily due to accumulation. In theory this would mean that a (Small) 200 lb bodybuilder could experience a net gain in lean mass tissue daily of 363.6 grams (200 lb x 1.818 = 363.6 grams) if the catabolism side of the anabolic/catabolic ratio were reduced 100%. That would result in a net gain of about 24 lbs of lean tissue in a month. Of course this is not only impossible, it would also be very unhealthy.

But… we can decrease the catabolic side of the ratio enough to not only put an end to cortisol induced post cycle lean mass tissue loss, but in many cases, we have actually augmented gains while “off-cycle”. Yes, I know, systemic (whole body) reduction in cortisol using prescription drugs like Cytadren only works for a short time…but what if this can be done site-specifically (like muscle mass)?

For Hyperdrol i am sure i am askin for bloodwork. Scheize I'll talk to kevin and if he is ok with the blood work for 2 bottles of AX like hyperdrol then I guess we should request atleast one tester for blood work.

Is there a thread to apply to test hyperdrol? I searched and couldnt find one. I can get blood work done any time. I got some done about a month ago and plan on getting it done in a couple more weeks. If everything is back to normal after my HD-50 cycle I was going to go on a Phera-Plex, Superdrol, Prostanzol cycle. I would rather test the Hyperdrol for you guys so please let me know...

LMAO. :D Based on your comments, blood work wasnt in the list initially. Damage control. :D "Lets get everyone talking about how good Retain is because they leaned up, but lets not do blood work to prove MbaET works." Shaaay-D. Now the blood work is in the requirements, so we will get to see whether MbaET works. If it turns out that MbaET doesnt work, isnt anyone over at AX going to feel bad for selling something that doesnt work as advertised? Or since the p-tyramine works, is it going to be a "well p-tyramine worked, so it wasnt a total loss." Im not trying to get on anyones bad side, just being bold enough to ask what is obvious.

Age:20 turn 21 in august

Sex: Male

Height: 5 ft 10.5

Weight: 172

Bodytype: Ecto-Meso

Training experience (as much detail as possible): Been training since I was 14 or so. Trained mostly biceps from age 14 to 16. From age 16 to age 17 trained mostly chest, triceps, and biceps in a monday, wednesday, friday program 3 sets of 10 for each. From age 17 to 19 used Arnolds high volume style training continuing to train mostly biceps, chest, and triceps training each twice a week. I soon incorporated forearms into the mix.

Age 19 to present I consider to be my prime lifting span where I utilyze a hybrid approach of volume and hit meaning 3-4 sets a tad below max effort and one set of maximum intensity. Program is modeled after Dorian Yates routine though I utliyze mostly all free weights with very limited machien involement and also incorporate supersets into everything. From 19- present I now train all muscle groups with a sharp focus on deltoids and upper back. I train each muscle once a week with the exception of calves which I train twice a week. Plan to continue to train throughout my life in a very similar fashion to my current methods.

Current Training Schedule / Protocol (as much detail as possible):

Monday- Chest, Biceps, and Calves

1 set of Incline Bench- 185 pounds for 8 reps
2nd set Of incline Bench- 225 pounds for 7 reps
1 set of seated Curls- 70 pounds each arm for 10 reps
1 set of flat bench flies- 70 pounds for 12 reps
1 set of Lying Close-Grip Bar Curl On High Pulley- 1 set of 100 pounds for 25 reps
5 total sets of Jordan Flies- Jordan flies are my own excercise where I sit perpendicular to the cable insertion and with palms facing the floor and body erect and stationary I do flies with one side of a v attachment, this isolates the chest very well. First four sets are with 20 pounds for 8 reps last set is with 30 pounds for 15 reps including forced reps and negatives/
3 sets of Preacher Curl- 40 pounds each arm for 6-7 reps
3 sets of Concentration Curl- 55 pounds each arm for 8 reps
Jordan Hammer curl- My own excercise where I bend over and use v attachment piece to to a hammer curl using many forced reps and negatives

Calves- 3 sets of standing Calf raises using 415 pounds
Please take note that the excercises for chest and biceps are superseted in the order above. The final set of each excercise is doen to absolute failure and forced reps and negatives are utilized whenever possible. This style of training will go for the following days as well.

Tuesday- Deltoids+ abs
Arnold Press- 2 sets with 70 pounds for 8 reps
Seated Military Press- 4 Sets, first 3 done with 135 for 8 reps last set done with 150 for 8-10 reps
Bent Over Rear Delt Raises- Superseted with every frotn and side delt excercise using 55 pounds for 8 reps
Seated Delt Lateral Raises- 2 sets with 25 pounds for 8 -15 reps focusing on form
Standing Cable Side Laterals- using 15-20 pounds focusing on form with movement starting behind the back as opposed to the traditional in front of quad
Abs- 3 sets of crunches while holding 35 pound son head for 30-45 reps
Leg raises on bench- 2 sets of 50 or so

Wednesday- Back (part one) and triceps with a set of squats
Deadlifts (every other week) 1 set of 285 for 12 and one set of 320 for 5-6
Yates Rows- On deadlift week I will do 2 sets with 185 on non deadlift week will do 7-8 sets ending with 185 for 7-8 reps
Superset the above with tricep pushdowns with 90 pounds for 7-8 reps and ez extension individual arm with 50 pounds for 10-15 reps.
Lunges- 2-3 sets with 75 pounds doing about 20 lunges each time in back yard
Squats- one set of 320 to failure for about 20 or so reps

Thursday- Back Part two, forearms
Wide Grip Pulldowns- 4 sets with 70 pounds
Narrow Grip Pulldowns- 5 sets with 90 pounds
The above superseted with shrugz using 100 pounds each arm for 10-20 reps
Hand Grippers- I use the 300 pound resitance ones. I cannot close them fully But i do 4 sets of 12-15 and the last set I use the other hand to do forced reps for 30 reps

Calves- 3 sets of 500 pounds last to failure usually for about 15 reps

Friday- Sunbay- off from resistance training and trust me I need it I train very intense for those 4 days

Current Daily water intake:
Generally 2 gallons

Short Term Goal:Maintain current bodyfat while climbing to 185

Long Term Goal: 225 at 12 percent bodyfat. Military Press over 400 for 8 reps, preacher curl 70+ pounds for 8 or more reps, deadlift over 600 with good form for 8 reps.

Supplement history (as much detail as possible):
The supplements I listed in my current regime Ive pretty much used for several years except green tea and milk thistle which Ive only been using for a few months.

I used creatine when I was 17 with great success. I went off of it for a few years, tried it again with little success. I theorize my body built up its own creatine stores and supplementation was not necessary. Have used No2 with very little effects when I was about 19. Have used nolva, lean extreme, armidex, and rebound xt all as pct products in the past. Have also used 17- Hyrdrox mesterone with good strength results. Have used methoxy isoflavone also with decent strength results. Have used Phera Plex and superdrol.

I would be very excited to be a tester for this product because I have always been trying to find products to help with cortisol. I have heard alot of bad realistic views on lean extreme for actual cortisol control. I see this product has a very different ingredient makeup from the rest of the cortisol market. If the product works well for me I would definatly be including it in future post cycle therapy protocols, cutting, and even when bulking to lower fat gain.

Training Experience

___Background___

Began training in 1998 at age 21. Trained M-F for 3 Months with Splits. Gained 10 lbs of lean muscle mass with a starting weight of approx. 160 lbs. Showed considerable progress. Natural ability to build muscle easily. Did cardio 3/5 training days on stationary bike.
Stopped training to join boxing. Lost some weight due to cardio. Ceased boxing after 3 Months.
During the next several years until present I trained intermittently with several long term training periods resulting in significant gains in lean body mass and strength. I rose from 160 lbs. to as high as a lean 200 lbs at my peak. Strength rose in all areas. Bench press went from approx. 95 lbs. to a max of 285 lbs.
There were two periods of approx. 6-8 months each that I ceased training completely, losing strength and gaining fat mass. I ended the last lapse on January 18th and have been training dedicated with a whole new level of committment. Bodybuilding is now a central component of my life style.
Supplements used at various times include whey protein & creatine. I also took an ephedrine based product for weight loss while it was still being legally distributed. No steriod, pro-hormone, or GH, etc. use at any time.___Present & Future___

I am now training fulltime as a lifestyle. I am attempting to improve on all aspects of the sport.
I log all of my workouts to ensure that I push myself to progress in either weight lifted and/or reps completed for each exercise based on previous training day records.
I take a scientific approach to my training, with daily body weight/fat percentage calculations, and frequent photographs to track my progressions.
I frequently pose and take measurements of all muscle groups to track my progress and monitor symmetry. In fact, I am currently modifying my training to correct a size difference for my left to right arm. While the right arm is dominant, it is lagging by almost 1 inch in circumference.
I am a perfect candidate for testing a supplement regimen. I am dedicated, consistent, and willing to take advanced supplement logs. My familiarity with the scientific progress helps me to understand how you require a controlled condition set in order to accuracy measure the efficacy of your supplements.
I am willing to baseline my nutritional intake & supplements immediately in order to be in a baseline state for testing of your product when ready.
My current condition is perfect for testing the results of your products. After 9 weeks of training, I regained my strength and am near my previous best condition. However, I desire to add at least 10 more lbs. of lean muscle mass over the next 3 months and increase my strength with a target of 315 lbs. on flat bench as a benchmark. I have also set a goal of having 19 inch arms. This goal may be delayed as I correct my symmetry problem. Note: My largest arm is now approx. 17.75".
I do not do illegal recreational drugs & consume alcohol very infrequently since I am fully aware of its negative impact on my growth and development.
I am willing to cease taking my current supplements or switch brands for compliance with testing conditions.Training Schedule / Protocol

I train Monday to Friday with splits. Sat. & Sunday are my off days. I take days off in the week if I feel that I am overtraining and need additional rest and recuperation time.
My splits are (1) Biceps/Triceps, (2) Chest, (3) Shoulders, (4) Back, and (5) Legs. I am also planning on adding a full ab day.
I train each muscle group with heavy weight motions & then lighter weight exercises for refinements and to ensure more isolated form.
I focus primarily on free weights and include almost all supersets in my workout typically with a heavy exercise followed by a light exercise.
I am 8 weeks into my training & have made significant progress as evident by my progression photos & training logs.
I evaluate my training logs & create my workout structure on a daily basis & attempt to structure each routine to hit weak points.
I typically include at least 1 ab routine with my other workouts, 2-3 times per week.
I may add 6 sets of exercise for a muscle group that has not been worked in at least 72 hours if I feel that it needs it. Example: If I did biceps Monday, I may do 6 sets (2 exercises) of biceps with back on a Friday.
I am currently prioritizing back and legs as I consider them my weaker areas.Cardio Schedule/Protocol

I do not currently do cardio in the gym. I am focusing on mass building.
When doing cardio, I prefer the treadmill and typically walk/jog for 30 - 60 minutes, 3-5 per week.
I get most of my activity from playing with my children, including baseball, tennis, or running timed laps (recreational only).
I will resume cardio training once I decide to cut.Current Supplements

hey sch , i am not to formailir with the old retain before i apply
i am wondering what side effects can i expect short term , long term ?

is this only for those going "off cycle "
i am natural
I haven’t heard of many side effects if you’re referring to bad sides. I have heard some reports of heat flashes but I haven’t experienced this for myself.

Retain isn’t just for “off cycle” as in PCT. It can be taken on it’s own or stacked with a variety of different products.

hmmm, i'd love to give this product a try but i'll be changing fat-burners around that time and wouldn't be able to give a completely controlled log. oh well
Thanks for being honest. Maybe next time. :)

What if your taking smurf creatine and glutamine. Smurftastic! Would that be alright to take a long if u got selected?

Yes those would be fine if you have been taking them on a consistent basis.

Training experience (as much detail as possible.. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF ! ! WHY should we choose you ! !): I've trained off and on with no guidance or knowledge for most of my teen years. It would typically last a few weeks and then I would just quit completely. Summer of 05 I decided I was tired of being a skinny punk, and started a workout program for real. Unfortunately I still had no knowledge or guidance and after a month of workong hard but seeing no results, I again quit. October 2005: I find Bodybuilding.com and read, and read....and read some more. Now I realised what had been lacking before, DIET! I formulated a diet and have been focusing my lifting around the main compounds since November. I have since gained about 15lbs with little or no fat gain.

Progress Journal:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=663200

Current Training Schedule / Protocol (as much detail as possible): I'm currently running my own fullbody workout based off of the 5x5.

Monday:

Squat 3x8
Barbell Row 3x8
Dumbell Bench Press 3x8
Skullcrusher 2x8
Pullups 2xfailure

Wednesday:

Deadlift 3x8
Flyes 3x8
Military Press 3x8
Lateral Raises 3x8

Friday:

Squat 3x8
Barbell Row 3x8
Dumbell Bench Press 3x8
Dumbell Curls 2x8
Pullups 2xfailure

Cardio Schedule/Protocol (as much detail as possible): Very little. Ive been trying to do maybe a mile or two on offdays.

Current supplements (exact brand/product name):

Optimum 100% Whey
Prolab Creapure
Men's One A Day Multivitamin
Primaforce Lean Green
Syntrax Hyper H

Current Diet and macros (as much detail as possible): I'm typically aiming for around 4000 calories a day. I can hit this for the most part with the opccasional day closer to 3500. I never eat less than 3000 calories. I really stick with the basics for diet: Lean beef, turkey, and ham. Tuna, chicken, potatoes, sweet potatoes, skim milk, more skim milk, eggs, lentils, baked beans, OATS, brown rice, wheat bread, green veggies, oranges and bananas.

I'll also eat some of the "dirtier" foods as they don't really effect me. Things like ravioli, frozen pizzas, Wendy's Triple Cheeseburger for a cheat meal, Lean Pockets, etc.

My macros are usually around 45% carb, 40% protein, 15% fat.

500g carbohydrates(mainly complex carbs with maybe 100-150g of simple carbs), 400-425g protein, 100-125g fat

Current Daily water intake: At least a gallon on offdays and usually a bit over 2 gallons on days that I lift. More if I do any cardio.

Short Term Goal: Bulk to 170lbs

Long Term Goal: Bulk to 500lbs, but seriously 200lbs with a respectable BF% would be my "ideal body".

ANY and ALL Prescription / Non-Prescription / Recreational drugs: None.

Supplement history (as much detail as possible):

Just whats above. I've stuck to the basics for now. The creatine monohydrate has done well for me. The only supplement I've taken that I'm not currently on was BSN No-Explode, which seemed to be a decent pre-workout energizer.

I have been training and lifting weights for track and field since I was 11 years old. I am nationally ranked in the discus. As a freshman that is a great accomplishment. I have one major factor holding me back, my strength. I may be one of the best throwers but i sure am not the strongest! I am staying at my college this summer to work out with the football team and i'm on a quest in the next few months to bulk up and increase my strength to be an NCAA discus champion!

Just for clarification: This product is suitable for use with a natural bodybuilder who hasn't been *cycling* anything? It will still reduce the effects of cortisol?
Yup! You'll still get results. :)

Since one of the ingredients is methylated will this require any kind of liver supplement or is that only necessary with more prohormone/steroid type compounds?

It's not the liver toxic type methyl like would be in a PH/PS.

You could take some anyways but not necessary. I recommend AX Perfect Cycle. ;) (it really is good though - cheap and great ingredient profile)

is this supplement geared towards a certain age group or can a 40 yr old see gains similar to a 30yr old or 20yr old? I know there will be differences but will it help the "older" crowd?

Just a quick question that I've raised before....where do you see this market heading?? By that I mean with the prohormone/SD, etc ban, is there really a need for more PCT related products?? Sooner or later it seems that the supply of these banned products will dry up which will essentially just leave AAS users that rely and swear by nolva, clomid, HCG and such....I will admit this product intrigues me and I'll probably try it because of what affect it may have on cortisol.

Training experience (as much detail as possible): I've Been into Bodybuilding for a bit more thantwo years now. When I say "into" I mean dedicated to it more than anything. By now it has gone beyond being a hobby. Unfortunately I did not discover BB as young as most but I still discern it as my passion and so I'm not as far as I want to be at this stage but within the short amount of time that it I have been in it, I've made tremendous gains. I began strictly at a pathetic weight of 125. Since then I've progressed quite far, even with the set-backs of wrestling (which I quit to pursue Bodybuilding). Since then I've remained loyal to the sport and have once again made continuous gains in as little as a months time. Although young compared to others, I am assertive when I state that I am knowledgeable (although still learning) of several aspects of bodybuilding.

Current Training Schedule / Protocol (as much detail as possible): My split consist of Four-Five workout days a week:

Mon- Chest -- Rear Delts
Tues- Back -- Front Delts
Wed- Legs
Thurs- Rest
Fri- Arms -- Side Delts
Sat- Forearms
Sun- Rest

*Abs whenever possible (2-3 times per week)

My Rep Range is currently stapled at 8-12 reps for a focus on Size. (Varies monthly)
Chest/Legs/Back = 15-18 Sets per Workout
Shoulders/Triceps/Biceps = 9-12 Sets per Workout

For the most part, cardio is not required for me to stay lean, but for the cardiovascular benefits I do them at least twice a week for 30 minutes(low-intensity) before each ab workout.

Sorry man, we can't make them get it to you any faster but if they don't deliver it tomorrow I will b*tch them out.

Oh, I'm not holding AX responsible for any of the delays, you guys got it to them on the 14th. Fedex has a history of screwing up my deliveries lol. A while back I ordered some parts for my computer and they ended up going 400 miles in the other direction before they got turned around...took an extra 3 days to get the package.

Again, I'm not blaming you guys, I'm just eager to get this log under way and give some feedback on this product as a stand alone. I've never used it before, but I'm looking forward to some of the things the write-up promised: better recovery, better retention of mass (yay! Less muscle loss while I'm cutting :D), an increase in strength (awesome if I see that at a caloric deficit) just to name a few.

btw, thanks for letting me test this, I'll do the best I can to give an in-depth log for those who follow along.

no problem, I look forward to this log, if it delivers what the write-up listed it should be a pretty good month for my cut.
