I sometimes lift right after I eat dinner. Is a large post workout meal necissary if your stomache is already full of food? I mean, will your body quickly absorb the whey and carbs if it's already full? Should I have a smaller post workout meal or just skip it all together?

Well you shouldn't lift on a full stomach for starters. And you need to have a good postworkout meal with 40-60g of protien, and 60-100g of carbs, if you are bulking anyways. If your are cutting the carbs can be lower.

I already know I should have lots of protein & carbs after lifting, but my question is will all that extra food really do any good if you already have a full stomache.
I know I shouldn't be lifting on a full stomache :) but sometimes it just can't be avoided- get home around 6 and have to go to bed around 9
