With my current diet i eat 1 steak a day. It is starting to get somewhat expensive. I was thinking that a porkchop is somewhat the same thing (a good protein source with some good fat). Am i right or wrong?

***will substituting the steak for porkchops be a problem?

Pork and steak aren't the same type of meat, but both are good. I sometimes buy pork chops to cook when I get tired of chicken. Just check the nutrition facts as I've found both very lean and very fatty cuts of pork.

you know, "steak" isn't the only cut of beef you can get. You could keep eating beef but not buy such an expensive part of the cow.

Steak can have a susbtaintial amount of fat and no it is not the "good" kind.

Try for a variety of lean meats. It doesn't matter where it comes from as long as it is fairly lean. I wouldn't using just 1 type of lean meat the majority of time....all food has different nutrients and it's healthier to have a variety of foods everyday.

I actually prefer a nice fresh flank steak on the grill. Head to the butcher and ask for a flank steak.

If you buy center cut pork chops, almost all the fat is located on the perimeter of the meat. I eat pork often for the protein it has.

I wouldnt say PORK could EVER be a lean meat. Even if you trim the visible fat off. PORK has a thin marble of fat throughout the meat. Chicken is the way to go. Buy in bulk and cook in bulk. Bag and eat later.

I'll pretty much buy any meat. Just be aware of what your buying and adjust the rest of your diet accordingly. You always try for better cuts though. A cheaper cut of steak (can't remember healthwise) is a steak sandwich cut. Offhand, I believe it's very thinly cut sirloin. Great with some bread or a pita.
