View Full Version : Carbs for breakfast besides oats?

Man ive tried oatmeal straight, and ive tried it in my shake. I cant handle either. What should i eat for breakfast on workout days? I wake up at 10, work out at noon.

Maybe a whole wheat bagel or some really healthy cereal like Kashi.

Some toast wouldnt be bad either, maybe with some PB on it.

I recommend Ezekiel bread. It's all sprouted grains and contains no added flour. You can be quite inventive with bread type products so you can find something you like to eat it with.

I was the same way until I finally realized I needed to put something crunchy, and some flavoring into my oats, so now I put walnuts, and cinnamon in my oats. It is pretty damn tasty now.

Trader Joe's sells some shredded-wheats that have no salt or sugar added, just plain shredded whole wheat. They taste great in milk with some sweetener added. I use this as my morning carb source when I'm pressed for time.

My personal favorite grain has to be toasted buckwheat groats (kasha) but if you don't like oatmeal I wouldn't think you'd like buckwheat. Have you ever tried adding the sugar free davinci syrups to your oats? They come in a variety of flavors and are really good. As far as other grains, I know it's breakfast but you could still have stuff like brown rice or sweet potatoes. Just looked at some special K in my cupboard...it has .5 g of fat, 22g carbs, 7 gs protein, 4gs sugar. Is this alright...i know i could stand to eat this.

i can eat rice, beans, potatoes any time of the day. breakfast included.
