Was fenway park sold out before when the red sox had a bad team?

I ask cause in 06 when i was fresh out of the army on chance i bought a 15 game pack to the tigers cause it was dirt cheap, anyways when i bought it and first few games the stadium was empty. By the end of the year everything was sold out. Last year and im sure this year it will be sold out also.

Now i know Fenway park is huge in baseball and so is red sox nation but i was just wondering if they have allways had sellouts or if its only when they are good.

Did you get your tickets in April/early May? That's when it's easiest to get tickets. Then once the warm weather comes the park is full. Plus there is always some tickets held off for game day at the box office. But the Sox always have had great attendance for as long as I can remember, and I would say even more so from the Dan Duquette era on to present day (even with some mediocre teams).

Not a Sox fan, but they have sold out every game since May 2003. They hold about 200-400 tickets for walk ups. Their capacity is 35,692 for day games and 36,108 for night games. These numbers make Fenway park the smallest draw in the Majors.

They have sold out every game since 2003 I believe. Prior to that season, you might have had a few open seats at a Devil Rays game in April or something, but every game was still pretty much a sellout. It's damn near impossible to get tickets now. :(

The Red Sox are also the largest draw on the road, since Red Sox fans travel so well.

Here are attendance figures for the last 10 years. They have averaged between 2.1 and 2.6 million fans, more in recent years as the park has gotten bigger. Still, they are limited because Fenway is small. The Red Sox could probably sell out a 70,000 seat stadium for all 81 home games, and that's not an exaggeration.

ok, well a friend of mine was saying before they were good in 03 or what ever year that was, there were tons of open seats like not even 25% of the seats were sold for a few years there prior to 03 or 01 , i don't remember what year

I dont know about all that, 99 seemed to be the year things started to look up for the Sox in my opinion.

Red Sox tickets are so hard to get here its ridiculous, I usually get a pair of tickets per year through the website, then reserve to ebay for the rest of the games I go to, which usually come from season ticket holders who cannot go to those particular games.

Unless you get tickets on the first day, you can't even get 2 bleacher seats to a weekday game vs. Kansas City. :(

They usually dont have a problem selling out. At least in my experience. But they do have a smaller stadium than most as well, especially before they started adding seats like they have recently.

sold out every game since 2003.. but before that it was certain teams.

like against the yankees you could probably never find a ticket.

they're going to be sold out for awhile now though.

The Red Sox are going to shatter Cleveland's consecutive sellouts record.
