I'm a wal-mart shopper and as a vendor who's been in the grocery retail business for five years, I shop at wal-mart because they sell the exact same things as the other stores for cheaper. It's a fact.

Anyway, just want to get an idea of what you buy at wal-mart and where it is. I'll start with what I bought today.

Jar of smuckers creamy all natural peanut butter.
Bananas
Martins whole wheat bread (two of them).
A rotisserie chicken
Two perdue four packs of boneless chicken breasts
Eight cans of great value solid white tuna fish in water
Five cans of hormell chilli with no beans
One box of honey nut cherrios
Five six packs of equate plus nutritonal shakes (chocolate flavor)
One 24 pack of coke zero.
One 24 pack of Sam's choice water.
Four marie calender herb roasted chicken meals
A new cannister of whey protein.
And a new pack of tube socks :)

What do you buy?

Actually I'll give you an insider tip from a vendor here. Wal-mart's generic brand is the exact same thing as the name brand right next to it. The name brands are the one's who make wal-mart's generic brand. The company I work for makes wal-mart's crackers and walmart sells them for 70 cents less than our product. Flowers bread company makes the great value (walmart version) bread. General mills makes the walmart brand cereal. And so on and so on. So when you buy the name brand, you're just paying for the name, the delivery costs and possibly the vendor's commision that stocks it.

I shop at Wal-Mart every week because I only make $13/hour and bulking up gets expensive for me.

Dole Spinach
Dozen bananas
5 apples
2-3 pounds of sweet potatoes
Broccoli
Romaine Lettuce
1 green pepper
1 lb. Sara Lee low-sodium turkey breast, thinly sliced
2 lb. Lean Ground Beef 93/7
Loaf of Nature's Own Organic 100% Whole Wheat or Honey Wheat (No HFCS)
1 package Aunt Millie's whole wheat bagels (Also no HFCS)
Jar of Smuckers Natural Creamy PB...somtimes Smart Balance if it's on sale.
Package of whole wheat pasta
1 package of canadian bacon
Dozen large eggs
Gallon of 1% milk
Tub of Dannon light and fit yogurt if I need it.
Bag of frozen strawberries
Body Fortress 100% Whey Protein (Definately not the best but all I can afford)

Anything else I need I usually get at Kroger later in the week. I also buy my chicken breasts at Kroger because they're cheaper there, but I don't usually need 3 lbs of chicken breasts every week.

I shop at Wal-Mart usually -- but I do not buy my produce their. It is just so disgusting looking, I don't know what it is. So I go to my local grocer for produce.

Another insiders tip: believe it or not, wal-mart has the freshest produce, meat department and deli over any grocer out there. The reason is because they do so much volume that they get perhisable trucks on a daily basis. The produce may not look the best and that's because the produce people don't put the time and care into making it look nice like other stores because as soon as it's stocked, it blows out and needs to be restocked.

I don't care for aesthetics though and I'll buy that patch of lettuce from wal-mart over a patch of lettuce at Kroger that looks nice but could've been sitting there for days.
