Just wondering if this is necessary

Spraying definitely helps with cleanup after cooking a meal. Plus, can't hurt anything! Go for it

no not neccesary. the george foreman is made of teflon. It already is non stick. I have melted cheese on mine and let it dry and later it still came off like butter. No need for non stick spray

I had a GFGrill a long time ago.... if for some reason you can't clean something in the George Foreman, just put a wet papertowel in it and cook that for a couple of minutes... the steam/moisture will soften any residue and you can clean it with ease.
