I've recently been working out quite a bit to compensate for the zero physical activity I have from working a desk job, and need some advice on nutrition. Although I've made some gains, I haven't really made any extraordinary gains and suspect it has to do with proper nutrition. I don't have any particular diet, mostly foods like subway sandwiches and such (normally stay away from McDonalds/Hardees type of food).

Anyway, what is the best way to get started with ensuring I get proper nutrition? My goal is to increase mass mostly (don't like those scrawny arms I got) and care more about gaining mass than getting fat in the short term (I can always cut to drop that fat off anyway). Suggestions?

1. Keep track of what you eat.
2. Prepare your own food.
