eating a lot of whole foods

carbs are calorie dense
so are fats

eat 6-7 times a day at 700 calories and ur set.. its not hard really...

well we could always do 2 hours of cardio every day. Then im sure us former fatties could push 4000 calories just to maintain weight.

but then again fk that, ill sit on my a$$ and just eat slightly above my crappy maintence

Sorry Mafty, sorry.

4500 is a good number for a big bulk or a clean bulk for a big guy.

Here are some good tips:

Personally I would just eat troughs of Oatmeal and whole chickens if I was shooting for these numbers, but some people like variety.

Some easy ways to do thisare with pasta - - You can eat 2 cups and be at 400 calories.

Don't eat lean proteins -- go for steak and organ meat and leave the skins on your food.

Drink a shake if you HAVE to....

Don't skip meals, always always eat on time.

Oh and Oddball -- at your size 4500 isn't a rediculous number to gain some weight -- you are a tall guy....

haha im not shooting for 4500, i think thats a bit much for me, i was just wondering what food combinations people were using to obtain these figures. i find it hard at college to eat at specific times since my classes are different everyday, and its hard to bring an extensive amount of food to school for 9 hour days. so the cafe is the only resort sometimes

a few pancakes and eggs with syrup and OJ for breakfast ,like 2 or 3 burgers with various sides for lunch and a big dinner will push you at 4500+ easy

lol you sound just slightly more active then me yet you need near 2x more calories then me to maintain?

how does your metabolism blow? When you need to consume 4000 calories just to maintain then you are one lucky mofo imo. And anything that you do gain is near 99% pure LBM, dam ecto metabolisms

yea dude. i guess you're right. but i'm not 100% ecto. i'm the skinny-fat kind. so i do put on fat as easily as i do muscle. mabe it's time to bump my **** up a few hundred cals. thing is i dunno if i should add more fats or carbs. i dunno what the hell else i could add to my diet. i eat massive amounts of protien and carbs and fats as it is. i cant physically eat every 2 hours anymore and sometimes 3 is barely enough

just eat a bit more unclean foods, do what you do now and throw in a candy bar or something you enjoy, im sure that will bump you up at least 400 easy calories and you probally wont even notice.

It doesnt matter were your extra calories come from imo just get enough protein all the time, and don't do less then 20% calories from fats & just fill it out as you will with either extra fat or carbs.

what are you ratios? And oddball if i didn't lift or run i'd be maintaining at like 2900, if i didn't walk on campus and NEVER left my house it would be 2600 maintaining. eh since you don't know your macro #'s i can honestly say it looks like your lacking fat , it looks like your getting enough carbs and protein. Doesnt look like 4000 cals either?

My suggestion

What kinda chocolate bar or fatty food do you like? Eat that, your diet is clean enough but you need some fat, enjoy yourself & get those fats up.

I've often asked the same question myself. There's no way I could fill up a 4500 calorie if I tried. I guess I would just double up on carb portions like oatmeal, beans etc. I'm of the philosophy that your protein and fat intake should be close to constant and you vary the carbs to accomodate your exercise regimen. Too bad, it would be nice to devour some not-so-lean burgers but I already get fat from peanut butter, olive oil, etc. Damn healthy eating.

so it's actually only 4260 some cals. i guess i could stand to add a few more carbs and some other fats sources in there, i'm only gettin 90g/f. i guess i could at 10 more grams but that'd only be an extra 90 cals. any ideas?

I eat 6,000 a day. Mostly consists of a lot of oatmeal, deli turkey sandwiches, and somewhere between 10-20 tablespoons of PB. I don't drink any of my calories, I eat them all and besides for the PB its pretty calorically sparse.

pack a cooler.. have a bunch of pre-made sandwiches..

pre tupper ware up pasta / chicken/ veggies / and olive oil as ur dressing ( serious calories)

any foods with a good deal of carbs + fats will really rack up calories..

try making homemade shakes if you have to .. they can easily top 1k calories

whey, milk, oats, fruit, peanut butter, yogurt is a simple one.. and add olive oil for more fats/calories

take along some trail mix, granola, almonds, and munch on these in ur backpack.. beef jerkey works well along with hard boiled eggs.. fruit is very portable along with yogurt..

you can easily do this.. i have 16-17 hour days down here at school 4:30 a.m. till 11 p.m. at night.. and u just have to make it something u want to strive for..

I don't drink shakes but I assume its pretty easy, just add up all the components of it. Most people can guess pretty accurately if they've been doing it long enough

I have a set of measuring cups I use everytime I cook so I can track serving sizes used then I just add the serving sizes of each item up to get the calories and macros for each meal.

btw my olive oil says 15g of fat per table spoon.. if i where to cook lets say something on the pan with tablespoon of olive oil would it still have the same amount of fat ?

edit: i have 1 tablespoon of olive oil with rice and eggs every morning, just wondering if the olive oil would lose some of its nutrients ?
