I have damaged my shoulder. What exercises can I do while I heal up? Anything that doesn't involve the shoulder.

I am still doing all leg work and cardio.

Cheers.

well i dont know what kind of injury u sustained to your shoulder , but yeah the only things i can think of are legs , cardio and abs , maybe fore arms.

then again if you still are able to do pull excercises then u can work you back.

but stop emidiatly when u feel any pain during or after ur work out !

good luck!

^^^ What he said.

I can't think of any upper-body exercises that don't involve the shoulder aside from wrist curls, crunches, and sit-ups. Just keep doing what you're doing in training the legs harder so when the shoulder recovers you'll feel like you turned a negative situation into something positive.

Just freshly healed from an AC injury here...

It really depends what part of your shoulder you injured...

If it's a Bicepetal Tendon, or a Slap Lesion, you shouldn't even do forearm curls...

Squats puts pressure on the shoulder, which for some injuries, like a grade 2 or higher AC seperation, will slow the healing process signifcantly...

If you haven't been to the doc... Go to the Doc...

Granted my first two doc visits were completely quackery... But even once the 3rd oppinion got me properly taken care of, it took FIVE GODDAM MONTHS to heal completely... If I would have gotten the right care, right off the bat, it would have only been 3..

What are your symptoms right now?

Good Luck Bro... This **** sucks to have... But if you're smart it can heal correctly and you'll only miss a short time... After all what's 2-3 months off lifting compared to a lifetime of BB-ing?
:)

Thanks for the support and feedback. Everyone. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't lift anymore.

I am not sure exactly what the injury is. My feeling is that its the R/C. It hurts especially at the rear delt when I swing the arm out and back (like in a flye movement) and push it up. But I don't want to say that it is R/C for def because I have been paranoid about that before and it turned out to be something else. I don't know exactly when I got it but I rememeber doing some very heavy flat bench dumbell presses and while I was kicking up with my legs to get into position, the left came up but the right didn't so I remember sort of pulling it into position like dragging it up the length of my body but holding it at the same time-could have been that.

Anyway, my doc isn't going ot be much help. I don't know of any sports injury specialist around where I live. Also, I know he is going to just prescibe Ibuprofen, so I started myself one course and the pain has subsided. I plan on giving a couple of weeks then doing some light stretching and if it feels right then some very light exercises for another couple of weeks.

It's just so damn frustrating not being able to do anything at all though for the last two weeks!

I was thinking today that maybe preacher curls would be possible, and someone mentioned forearms. What do you think guys?

I haven't done any upper body exercise since the first feeling of pain. So I am hoping that that will have helped.

Bummer of a problem... I'm also limited due to injury at the moment.. the only other thing I do is Hyperextensions for the lower back. I can hold heavy DB to the chest without any probs...

Good luck

I don't have a ton of time right now to help you self-diagnose what you have going on... I'm leaving for a week long vacation in less than 2 hours from now... However if you click on my name and go to my "Recent Posts." You'll see that I've been answering a bunch of people's "Shoulder Injury" related questions for the last month or so... Just click on the applicable titles that sound like Shoulder injuries... I've gone on at great length in several of them... Including in some sections talking about Miscellaneous shoulder maladies, that while I didn't have it, I read up on it in the course of learning about my own shoulder...

Should be some helpful stuff in there... Sorry I couldn't be of more help on this particular post.

Good Luck Bro!

I'll check back in 8+ days when I return from my wilderness vacation!

Hi, I searched about things which related to shoulder injuries, and I found this thread here at bb.com. I bookmarked it myself, because it is a good thread anyway, and there are trainings about how to strengthen your shoulders which are used when healing up, or just to strengthen them again. Please look at it:

Good luck.
