View Full Version : BSN Cellmass vs. Muscletech CEE Log (now + Novedex XT)

First off, I should mention I'm not really adding on new weight, just getting back the mass lost from the worst 4.5 months of my life where I fought through pneumonia and a nasty flu. Left me with a collapsed lung which went down twice this year -- the second case happening while lifting and almost turned into a life threatening situation. Probably the result of getting too involved in my grad school research last fall. I was sleeping erratically and it surely dampened my immune system.

So after multiple emergency room trips since last Christmas, a sh!tload of opiates, chest drains, surgery, internal bleeding, more chest drains, 3 weeks total of hospitalizations, I'm finally getting over the hump. It was a humbling experience, but I've found new motivation for my workouts and overall health now that I've lost 25 pounds.

Picked up a tub of BSN Cellmass for ~$30 and started it on 5/12/05. Did some light stretching and isometrics for a couple days, then returned to the weightroom on 5/14/05. Weighed in at 155 lbs. I've been maintaining a solid base of about 175 lbs with 9-10% BF for the past 4 years, so I wasn't too worried about getting it back.

Today, 5/18/05, I weighed in at 161 lbs. Six lbs in 5 days is surely mostly water. But that just means the Cellmass is doing what it's supposed to. I wish I could have taken a picture of the veins on my arms during my biceps workout today. With the little BF I have, the engorgement of skeletal muscles with blood was easily pushing out what I naturally have. It looked pretty wicked. Can't remember that last time I've seen that on myself. BSN Cellmass is the real deal. I don't need to look at Bill Lewellyn's thread ever again now that I know I've got something that works. I have Muscletech's CEE caps on the way, and I'm going to transition to that next week. 10 days on Cellmass, followed by 10 days on Muscletech CEE to see which seems to give me better endurance during workouts. I doubt Muscletech will be better than Cellmass, considering it actually has less CEE (2.1g/serving vs. 3.0g/serving).

I don't have any power numbers yet because I'm currently going for 15-20 reps right now to build back flexibility and tendon strength. Plus I've got Rebound XT on the way which I'll add to my regimen when I'm ready to start grunting and hollering again while pumping.

Other supplements I use:
H2O (100+ oz / day)
ProLab N-Large2 (2 servings / day = 105g protein)
Prolab glutamine (~10g / day with protein shakes)
NOW flax oil caps (5-10g/day)
NOW Glucosamine & Chondroitin + MSM caps (3 / day)
NOW Garlic w/ Hawthorne + Cayenne (1 / day)
Nature's Science Milk Thistle (500-1000mg / day)
Generic Vit C (500mg / day)
Halls Zinc + Echinacea droplets (1-2 / day)
Vitaplen Complete liquid multivitamin
Trader Joe's Acidophilus (1 tablet / 2-3 days)
5-6 small-medium meals through the day


For pre-emptive skin care in preparation for the Rebound XT:

Shower 2 / day. Wash with St. Iveís Apricot facial scrub. Then 2% Neutrogena salicylic acid astringent after stepping out. Just squirt it into my palm, and spread all over the face, neck, shoulders, and wherever I can reach on my back. Being a beta hydroxy acid, which is fat soluble, it cuts through oil and preps the skin for deeper penetration of alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA). Acne canít form if dead skin cells canít form a plug, so you need something to burn off the cells. I started with an OTC generic 8% AHA moisturizer a month ago, which stung a little on the face. I got used to it and Iíve recently moved up to 30% AHA from MD Forte. Using the alpha and beta hydroxyl acids daily is like giving yourself regular, but mild chemical peels. This regimen has left my skin looking baby smooth lately, which is good and bad. On one hand, it looks I just got made over by the queer eye for straight crew. On the other hand, girls have been staring at my skin when talking to me. I bet theyíre wondering, ďwow, how do I get my skin to look like that!Ē Iím also take 800 mcg of chromium pi****nate per day to help manage blood sugar levels, considering all the food Iím taking in. I notice that whenever I get a pimple or two, itís usually after eating a lot of starchy foods or a lot of refined sugars like in juices. So I figured the chromium should help. Thereís also some studies suggesting that people who have severe acne have deficiencies in chromium, and that their condition improves with insulin treatment. I had a little bit of acne on the shoulders when I was on creatine mono 8 years ago, and so far itís not happening on the CEE and using the acid moisturizers. I have some guggul on the way too which Iíll add to my dailies.

The Muscletech CEE tabs gave me a pretty good swell during my chest/shoulders/tris workout tonight. Been on it for a couple days now. I must say it's a little better than Cellmass for in workout endurance as well.

Up to 163 pounds now.

Not sure yet, it's only been 2 weeks. 1 week on Cellmass and 1 week on Muscletech. 10 pounds in 2 weeks is mostly water retention, but that's what creatine is supposed to do. The dry mass should be coming soon now that the muscle cells have expanded in volume.

Muscletech seems to give me a little extra endurance during workout. But the overall swell seems better with Cellmass. Not sure if that seems contradictory. But that just means both are good products. I may just pop the Muscletech pills before workouts and use Cellmass for after.

the reason im asking is im about to buy one of these this weekend.i like the idea of a pill and the price of cee pro. im not worried about stregnth yet i just want size. ive never had CEE ive just been cycling mono, but the gains are wearing off. what do u suggest. also is there any other supp u suggest thats fairly cheap.

Weighed in at 168 last night, up 3 pounds from last saturday. I knocked off 90lb dumbells for reps on the flat bench yesterday too. Should be back up to 100lbs in the next few workouts. It's nice to be filling out my T-shirts again.

I think Cellmass has worked better for me for mass. The taste isn't all that bad either just mixed in plain water. It's like drinking highly concentrated Koolaid. It's got 3g of CEE compared to 2.1g in Mucletech's pills. I get it from another website for a decent price (considering their flat shipping rate as well in the states). I'm back on Cellmass 100% now and switched my protein to Cytosport products. Happy with everything so far. Tex, if I had to choose one for mass, then I'd go with Cellmass.

Started Rebound XT on top of the Cellmass today. Popped a pill with a fatty shake for breakfast this morning (Muscle Milk + 15g of Flax Oil gel caps + plus all the other dailes). Had a huge buffet lunch today which surprised me, plus I didn't feel sleepy afterward. Maybe cuz I was excited to get into the gym after work.

Was pretty aggressive today with a back/biceps/triceps workout today. Some stranger came up to me and asked what supplements I take and what my workout routine is cuz he wanted to "get bigger." That's a good sign I'm making noticeable gains. I just told him Cellmass and Cytosport protein. Didn't want to say I started an AI cycle because I figured he wouldn't know what the hell it was anyway, considering he has to ask someone about tips for getting bigger.

Gonna weigh in this weekend, and I'll bet I've topped 170 now. Gonna start writing down strength numbers next week now that I feel I've recovered enough to start the old "hootin' and hollerin'" type lifting.

I'll take 1 RXT for another couple of days to make sure I can handle this stuff, before I bump it up to 2/day for 3 successive weeks, then finish the bottle off with 1/day until the bottle is done.

2nd day on 25mg of RXT + the usual CEE.

Weighed in at 169 today. Great day at the gym. Hit the 75 lb dumbells for incline chest presses today with ease. Gonna pump it up to 85 next week on this exercise, and 95 for the flat bench. Tried a new technique for military presses on the Smith machine that I saw in the recent issue of M&F, and boy did it pump up my front delts. The pump got so bad that it interfered with my subsequent behind-the-head miltary presses. Good sign though. My lungs are breathing forcefully with ease now too. The RXT might be helping in this area, considering the diaphragm and intercostal muscles are striated, and therefore should be responsive to test. I've read some pulmonologists have brought up the idea of using AAS to help with recovery from certain destructive lung conditions or after surgery, but no clinical trials have been done in this area yet.

I feel a small pimple on my left eyebrow, but by chest and back are still clear so far. Also started 5% topical spiro 2x/day and Xandrox 5% with Retin A 2/x day for my hairline, which I got from minoxidil.com. No pattern baldness on either side of the family, although my older bro does have a "V" hairline. He's in his 30s.

Looking forward to what 50mg of RXT/day will do. I think it might be causing me to shed some CEE water weight already, which isn't all too bad.

3rd day on 25mg of RXT. Noticed my face looked a little slimmer and abs a little more defined, plus I felt a little hungover for some reason. Hit the gym and weighed in, and lost ~3 lbs since yesterday. Just what I thought -- a little dehydrated. I think the RXT is making me shed some water weight gained from Cellmass. Or it could be antihistamines that I take too. I wonder if taking Cellmass and RXT together is somewhat wasteful? The water retention gained from Cellmass is then lost by the transient estrogen depletion.

Drank a couple bottles of water while working out legs and I felt better. Gonna have to increase my water intake even more so now. Might cycle off the Cellmass by the end of the week and go with 50mg of RXT alone if I continue feeling this way by the end of the week.

Off the Cellmass for a couple days now, headaches are gone. The pump is gone during lifting as well, but the strength is still there. Down to 165 in body weight as well. I guess there's no question in my mind Cellmass is a good product for water retention and pumps. After I finish my 4 week cycle of RXT, Cellmass will be my long-term supp. I think 1/2 servings 2x/day should be good.

5th day on RXT, 2nd day @ 50mg. Small pimple on my forehead, it's already going away with a little topical Benzaclin.

Gonna stick with 25mg of RXT ED now. Found a small clinical trial for exemestane (aromasin), for which RXT is a derivative of. 25mg is just as effective as 50mg in estrogen reduction (30%) and test increase (60%). Also decreases SHGB by 21%. Safety profile of exemestane looks good as well, with no evidence of acute toxicity in blood and urine profiles.

Added back in 2-3g Cellmass ED before workout. Seems to be the optimum combo to avoid headaches. Pumps were back tonight, woo hoo!

Man, came down with a cold last thursday and still recovering from it. Just found out the RXT I've been taking is PLACEBO! LOL. At least I'll get a refund for it. I'm thinking I should keep the RXT bottle for legal reasons later. I wonder if the bad batch of RXT had anything to do with me catching a cold? Probably not. I had a busy week last week, hence the lack of updates.

I've cut back on cellmass a little after reading that 3g per day is good enough. Now taking 2/3 cup 60 min before workouts and 1/3 cup 6-8 hours later. 1 scoop on offdays. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to take it on an empty stomach.

Still at 172 lbs today. Damn cold is holding me back. Noticed my abs looked more defined beginning last week. Originally thought the RXT was leaning me up, but now it's obvious it's good old fashioned hard work.

Shoulders/traps today.

Reverse grip military (Smith machine). Definately can bump up on shoulders next workout. Took it light today since I still feel under the weather.

Took my first Novedex XT pill today. Not really looking for the crazy test numbers shown in Gaspari's studies, but more like high-normal levels with controlled estrogen suppression. So I'm sticking with 1 pill ED, which I believe has 25 mg ATD. Still taking 3g cellmass ED.

Hit bi's and legs today. Again, moved up in weight from my previous workout.

Moved up on twisting bicep curls w/ dumbells, back up to my "before surgery" strength.

Off day today. Slept like a log last night, about 10 hrs. Not sure if it's due to the fact I slept only 5-6 hrs the night before, or if the NXT is making me sleep deeply already.

I don't what this means, I bumped on on the chest presses but fizzled right after. My diet has been a little light this week. Or maybe I need to get in a couple workouts with lighter weights and higher reps.

Read about "time under tension," and decided to increase TUT today to try to boost size gains a little better. This involves cutting down the weights about 30%, and focuses more on negative reps during a set to increase the set time to 40 seconds. The burn is definately more intense.

Weighed in at 173 lbs today. Looks like I regained a little water weight from my cold.

Whew, haven't had the time to update my log. I've hit my goal of returning to my base of 175 pounds. Not bad for 7 weeks, including 1 week with a nasty cold. This will be my last entry, and I'll leave it be for the archives.

it's up to you but you might want to give the products more than ten days before you switch them and judge them.
